Went to Amalia last Thursday night for my dad's early birthday dinner. I did go before and after the marathon so knew it was nice. We used Meerkat Meals so got 2 for 1 on the starter and mains.
Calamari - calamari and fresh vegetables, deep fried in our homemade batter served with garlic mayo
Breton Mussels - fresh mussels in a garlic and a white wine sauce with a touch of chilli
I got Tortellini Calabrese - delicious tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach tortellini in a rich creamy sauce with broccoli, garlic, mozzarella and Parmesan all beautifully baked in the oven with added chicken
No chilli as I don't do spicy food and added chicken to it.
Mum got Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare - Fresh king prawns, squid, clams, mussels, garlic and wine in a rich tomato sauce tossed with spaghetti
Only got 2 prawns
Gavin got Pepperoni - Classic spicy Italian pepperoni sitting on a thin crispy cheese and tomato base
My dad got Pollo Amalia - Chicken breast stuffed with Parma ham and goat cheese, rolled in garlic and parsley bread crumbs, cooked until just crispy on the outside and moist and juice in the inside served with cocktail sauce
Dad got the worst thing on the menu which I'm sure no one ever gets - didn't even see it on the menu. It didn't look great. Mine was nice though and my dad definitely should have got pizza or pasta. It was busy for Thursday night not sure if people were using the Meerkat Meals or people like it. As it is hidden you wouldn't think many people would know about it but luckily we booked a table.
Currently doing last minute packing as I got to Canada in the morning!
