Mei Mei

Went to Mei Mei in town for dim sum with Holly. The last time we went there was for my birthday last year. We got there just before 1pm and there was a bit of a wait for a table but luckily we didn't have to wait long. We just ordered a load of dim sum and not any mains.

Holly got a bowl of Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup.
Char Siu Cheung Fan - Roasted Pork in steamed Vermicelli Rolls

Don't know what the top left is because we didn't order it and when we asked the waitress we don't have a clue what she said!
Chicken Feet - Chicken Feet in Satay Sauce
(This is what it says on the menu but it's defo not satay sauce and it's black bean sauce!)
Steamed Egg Custard Layer Cake - Has coconut
Har Gau - Prawn Dumplings

Lap Cheung Bao - Steam Bun with Chinese Sausage

We also ordered char siu bao but ordered it 4x before it actually came! So we ordered it with our main order, then when we said we didn't order the random dumplings we told her that we were ordered char siu bao, then we asked the same person again and ordered the Chinese sausage bun - which came but no chair siu bao. Then ended up telling what looked like the manager woman and it eventually came. Service was absolutely crap. Couldn't believe how we just didn't get this char siu bao. I was happy to leave it but Holly was adamant that she wanted them.

Got charged 10% service fee but cos Holly paid too soon didn't get the chance to get it taken off. Because there was no service and we shouldn't have to pay it. When they seated us they just presumed we were having English and gave us a spoon and fork rather than the Chinese set up with a bowl and chopsticks. Didn't offer us any Chinese tea. Just wasn't a great experience but one of them annoying things where we could complain and I write this awful blogpost and nothing will happen or change.

On the way home I went to Maccies and got a Biscoff Mcflurry on the new summer menu

It was nice but I didn't enjoy it because I was so full - probably the most food I've eaten in the past 2 weeks as I've just lost my appetite - I think because of the heat. I thought the sauce was Biscoff but apparently it's caramel. I couldn't even tell you what it was because everything is blurring into one and I clearly wasn't paying attention. I only got it because I knew if I didn't then I probably would miss out. Hopefully I do get my appetite back soon.

Pippin's Corner

Went to Pippin's Corner on Lark Lane for brunch this afternoon with Holly. We got there around 1pm and thought Lark Lane and Sefton Park was going to be super busy but it wasn't as busy as we thought it was going to be.

We sat outside down the side in the shade where it was nice and cool as it was 28°C today. With a thunderstorm happening as I write this post as we've had really hot weather for the past 3/4 weeks and not had any rain for a while.

Boston Pancakes - Pancake stack - £9.50

Anything on Toast - Scrambled egg, bacon & avocado - £8.95

I got the pancakes and asked for fruit, no cream with maple syrup on the side. When it got brought out I asked where the fruit was and she said oh it's just at the bar I'll go and get it. Started eating and she just didn't come out with it so had to go in and ask. She brought it over in the same little tub as the maple syrup and all it had was 2 strawberries, 2 black grapes, 2 raspberries and a few blueberries. The pancakes were nice but was a bit crap the way they got my order wrong. Holly's was a choose 4 items on toast but she only chose 3. The scrambled eggs looked nice and I wished I went for that instead!

There were 2 menus one on a blackboard then a small one pinned to the board. On the big blackboard it had smoked salmon so I asked the girl and she said she would go in and ask then get back to us when she took our order. She didn't tell me if they did salmon so ended up ordering the pancakes.

After we got gelato from the gelato shop which was probably one of the busiest places on the street due to the good weather.

I got Biscoff & Honeycomb but as there was only a bit left in the tray and was really runny she said she could put it in a tub and give me a cone hence me holding a cone. Holly got the same but vegan version. It was nice could properly taste the Biscoff but it was melting so quick all over my hand!

8652 steps, 4 miles, 1 hr 30 mins later we did a few laps around Sefton Park to burn the gelato off. It was so hot in the sun but really nice in the shade. Refreshing now with the thunderstorm but will be a humid night!
