Temple of Poseidon

Went to see the Temple of Poseidon on the same day we went to Lycabettus Hill & Panathenaic Stadium. We went in the evening for the sunset and bought a coach package from Get Your Guide. It cost £33.46 per person. We had to get the tube from our hotel to Syntagma then to Halandri to get onto the coach at 4pm. We had a tour guide called Vivian and she was really good. She's an archaeologist graduate and doing a masters in art history so knew a lot and had really good English.

20 minutes into the trip we had a cafe stop to go to the toilet, get snacks and a drink if you wanted. Then we stopped at the Theatre of Thorikos - the first theatre. It is usual as it isn't your typical semicircle shape it's just straight.

There was a mine and quarry in the past.

One of the oldest olive trees en route to Temple of Poseidon.

Temple of Poseidon

We got to the temple at 6:15pm and the sunset was going to be at 8pm. We had to pay €10 go to the temple as it wasn't included in the price of the tour ticket this is because people can discounts so it's not fair to charge everyone the same price.

The temple is situated on top a hill facing the sea so that anyone going to Athens via the sea, it will the first thing they will see. We had a walk around before actually going up to the temple.

Didn't have the best weather as I think it was our own fault for slagging Zeus off the day before for having a crap temple... So was a bit worried on whether we would be able to see the sunset.

The photos just look so fake and unreal and taken on my phone Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. These photos look photoshopped and they're not! No filters or anything!

After having this photoshoot a man with a whistle was telling us to get off these!

These 3 looked like war planes flew past so low!

It was amazing and so worth going for the sunset. I guess if we went the day before when we went to the Acropolis it would still have been good but think because it's by the sea the sunset just makes it. We left just after 8pm as it shuts and took us 1 hr 30 mins to get back to Syntagma. We didn't realise that it was only down the road from the Temple of Zeus so it only took us 20 minutes to walk back to our hotel. We could have walked to there earlier on when we were getting the tube.

Syntagma Square

Old Royal Palace that now holds the Greek Parliament. The weather and temperature was so nice when we were walking back. One more post left of Athens and then Paris to come!
