First stop of the cruise - Salerno. Starting the cruise off with my favourite and most excited stop - I finally got to go to Pompeii!
We got up at 7am and went to the buffet for breakfast.
We got off the ship at 9:25am and headed to the train station.
Salerno was pretty from the small part we got to see.
We just missed a train so had to wander around for the next one as they came every hour.
We got the 10:41am train to Pompeii which took half an hour to get there.
Tickets were €20. For an extra €5 you could go to the villas but we knew we wouldn't have enough time to go so just got the normal ticket.
It was massive - it was a city after all. I didn't realise or appreciate how big it was and that there would be so much to see. We were there for around 3 hours and it wasn't enough time. The map was hard to read and the signage wasn't clear as I wanted to see the casts of people but just couldn't find the museum bit for it. Think it was the far end which we never got to. We should have got the earlier train but I still don't think that would have been enough time as the ship was leaving at 6pm so the latest we had to get back to the ship was 5pm and factor in having to get the train back to Salerno then walk back from the train station.
Maccies do a hot coconut matcha latte - it was nice but basically just a hot coconut milk really. Barely taste any matcha and wasn't even green.
We got back to the ship after 4pm. It was a hot day and needed to get a shower and wash my hair as it was super dusty there.
We went for dinner at the restaurant
Cheese Ravioli in Lobster Sauce
Only 2 bits of ravioli
Nachos with a Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Broiled Bluefish
Sugar Free Carrot Cake
Went to see the show in the theatre which was the comedian magician.
After we went to the 24 hour Irish pub O'Sheehan's. The only place you can get food at any time of the day but it was the same menu of food they served everyday.
Got the nachos with spinach and artichoke dip again - the nachos were dead greasy and weren't as nice as the ones from dinner
Caesar Salad with added Grilled Chicken
Pompeii was great just sadly not enough time. This is the issue with a cruise - you do get see all these places and wake up to somewhere new everyday but you just don't get enough time to see the places you end up. Salerno also looked nice but again because we went to Pompeii we didn't get the chance to walk around and see. I would loved to go back to Pompeii and go to see Mount Vesuvius.
Next stop Catania, Sicily!
