Hong Kong - Sharp Island

We got a taxi to the Hong Kong border from my grandma's which took over an hour due to traffic. It's mad how different it is once you cross that boarder. Can actually understand people! Mum's mate met us on the other side - we had dinner with her on one of the previous nights when she came over to China with other group of mates. We got a taxi to Sai Kung to go on a boat trip to Sharp Island. We picked the best day to go to Hong Kong as the weather was so nice - the perfect blue skies.

Each time we've back to China we go to Hong Kong but never done this before - we always go into the shopping touristy bits and didn't even realise Hong Kong had these islands and beaches. The water was so clear.

When the tide is low you can walk over to half moon bay - unfortunately we didn't time it right

We did get ripped off by the man as people who got a ticket after us managed to haggle with him to get it cheaper! Our boat was crap compared to the other ones we saw and the taxi driver said there was boats that had glass floors so you could see the water but no-one did.

If you ever visit Hong Kong I would recommend going to visit one of the islands just to get away from the madness of Hong Kong. It's just so busy and full of people everywhere this is the only calm and quiet place. You feel like you can properly breath and get away from it all!

When we got back to Sai Kung we went to have some lunch. They all ended up going to some Thai restaurant and I went to the place next door. I ordered Chinese sausage and rice and them a portion of chicken feet but the guy got my order wrong and thought I wanted a portion of Chinese sausage rice and chicken feet, baby ribs and rice

I ended keeping the chicken feet and baby ribs rice. Was nice enjoyed it.

Then we got the bus to Kowloon and went to this new shopping centre called Plaza Hollywood where we bought a rice cooker to bring back home. After we met up with mum's mates to have dinner. We met some of them the other night already with a few new people. It was the best dinner we had all holiday. Hong Kong food is definitely more to our taste.

Crab claws - I missed these coming out as I was at the shop with my mum so my dad took these photos for more

Suckling piglet

Scallops and veg

Crab claws

Salt & pepper oysters

Goose

Fish

Crab noodles - from the claws we had at the start

Fried rice

The sweetest plums!

Custard and lotus paste baos

The food was so good and prefer these giant crabs compared to the little ones we had at previous meals.

We got the metro to the border which was a nightmare trying to get back into China. We hadn't even left for about 10 hours! We had to fill out landing cards again and they just ask you stupid questions. Mum got stopped and pulled into a room then a guy took her 2 passports and was just sprinting up and down the place. Wouldn't tell her what the issue was and eventually gave them back to her and let us go. We were the last people to cross the border. Then we go the train back and didn't get back till midnight. Wished we got to spend more time in Hong Kong I actually like it there it's so much better than China.
