River of Light 2022

Unexpected Twist

Went to see the River of Light last night with Jo and her dog Dexter. A 10 night light exhibition that happens each year in Liverpool. Last night was the last of the 10 nights.

There's was 10 different illuminated artworks that were doted around the waterfront from local, national and international artists. Some artworks were new to Liverpool and some were never-seen before, brand new commissions. It was both light and sound.

We started at Liverpool one by the sugar hill steps

RAINBOW ACCORDION

These played music if you stood on the foot prints.

Then the next was up on Chevasse Park

AFFINITY

Dexter's too small to get in our selfie!

Next was to Exchange Flags behind the Town Hall

EVANESCENT

Then it was to the waterfront

LIGHT LOOPER

This sounded like a computer game

ELECTRIC DANDELIONS

CONTINUUM

Then to the strand in front of the Liver Building

KINETIC PERSPECTIVE

This was cool and spun round. Think this was my favourite

Then inside Mann Island

DANCING RIBBONS

Dexter wasn't allowed in the box but the security guard said he could go if we carried him.. Yeah ok.. Jo get his head and I'll get his bum.. He weighs probably the same as me, so no chance!

Then next towards the Dock

BEAM

TURN THE LIGHT ON, IT'S DARK IN HERE

I enjoyed it and thought it was good. There's always a mix of good and bad ones. November is a rubbish time to have it though as we were lucky it didn't rain when we went out but started to once we got to the last one on the way back. It was cancelled on Wednesday night as the weather was too bad so that was one night lost. I thought it was going to be really busy but it was alright. It's something I try and go to every year and people live it so looking forward to seeing what next year will be like!
