Belated birthday day out for Holly's birthday - Brunch at Bam Boo on Bold Street which we've had on the list for a while
Pistachio and Mascarpone SoufflĂ© Pancakes - Pistachios, mascarpone topping, pistachio sauce served with vanilla ice cream - £13
These are new and have only just been added to the menu. I had to try them as I love pistachio. They were really sweet and also tasted a bit salty. The ice cream was very icy. Would have been better if the pistachio sauce wasn't as sweet.
I want to try Biscoff mascarpone and Kinder Bueno pancakes.
Pesky Full English - Hot smoked salmon, poached egg, wilted spinach, asparagus, cherry vine tomatoes, fried mushroom, hashbrown, beans, smashed avocado and toasted semola bread - £16
This was good but so much food on a plate! Defo didn't need the bread or 2 hashbrowns. Everything was warm then it was a bit of shock when the avocado was cold
Hash Stacks - Potato onion rosti stack, diced potato, peppers, roasted chickpeas, cherry tomato, crumbled feta, smashed avocado, poached eggs and a short of chilli honey - £11.50
Holly got this and you get 3 hashbrowns which is a lot! She managed to eat 1 and a half. They did taste good but too much which ended up getting wasted.
We were so full after - we defo didn't need to the have the pancakes but I wanted to try them and didn't want to have something sweet for my lunch so we got it to share but I ended up eating most of it.
I booked the table for 1:15pm and were a bit late so rang them to let them know and they said we'd only be able to have the table for an hour as they're really busy. They weren't even that busy and the place was smaller than I thought. The food was good and came out quick. One thing they're missing is matcha lattes which I thought they did do.
After we walked round town for a bit as I booked to go to Escape Hunt to do an escape room - Alice in Puzzleland. We went 2 years ago for my birthday and we wanted to do this one but it was fully booked so did the pirate one instead and said we would try this at some point.
Escape Hunt Liverpool
We did the Alice in Wonderland themed escape room and just like the last one it took us a while to get into it. But we did mange to get out sadly slower than last time in 50.47 (49.17 last time). You had to do things in the a certain order before you could move on. Some bits we found easy to work out then others we needed some clues to help push us along. It was good and we enjoyed it. Don't know how people can do it in under 30 mins as it takes us that long to just get into it! But once we do get into it and know what we're doing we're good. We have 2 more to complete - the last samurai (meant to be the hardest) and wild west (less liner so you don't have to complete things in a certain order before you can move on).
After we went to Black Sheep Coffee for a matcha latte. Holly lost a bet as I knew this year was the year of the dragon and last year was the year of the rabbit and she didn't believe me! They weren't the best matcha's as the milk was too hot and was really milky. We both got coconut milk and it was filled right to the top of the mug Holly spilt it bringing it to the table.
Had a great little day out that wasn't filled with just eating and actually doing a fun activity. This is going to be how our catch ups are going to be filled with doing a fun activity as well as eating something from our never ending list of places to try.
A nice end to a very long working week and back to it tomorrow :(
