Barcelona Food

 Lato - Born

El Niño Toast - Toasted bread, topped with crushed avocado, sprinkled with chia & sunflower seeds with a free range poached egg, cherry tomatoes, lime & black pepper - €9.90

Was really annoying considering they had just opened and we were basically the first customers of the day they didn't have what I wanted. I wanted Tostada Picaflor which had salmon and avocado.

Breakfast was alright just a standard avocado toast with poached egg - could have done with another egg and it was meant to have coriander oil - no thanks!

Xurreria Trenol

We walked to find this famous stuff churro place - Xurreria Trenol that does stuffed churros

We got a Kinda Bueno filled, vanilla filled and chocolate covered filled with Mikybar. The Kina Bueno one was the nicest as it came out fresh so was still warm. The others were cold and tasted stale. I wanted just 1 normal one but they were sold by weight 100g which was around 3. I did say I wanted it but she obviously didn't understand me so didn't get them but they weren't made fresh so would have been stale and cold.

Gelaaati Di Marco

We found this gelato place that's right by the gothic quarter and we kept going back to it as it had a really good selection of vegan gelato for Holly to have. I kept getting the same one this pistachio one which had biscuits in it. The first one I mixed it with coconut, the second one was some hazelnut mix and the third had chocolate bits in it. A small which had 2 scoops was €3.90 then it was an extra 50c for the premium flavorous. It was a good find and Holly was made up with the place

Les Quinze Nits - Plaça Reial

Dinner on the first night we went to Plaça Reial which was a 20 minute walk from our hotel. I was recommended this square by someone as it's just really chilled and there's entertainment as well while you eat. We got there at like 5:30pm which for Spanish people is early for dinner. We did a lap around to see which one we liked the look of the most. We ended up going to Les Quinze Nits.

Croqueta Jamón - €2.25

Holly wanted a jamón croquette and was so funny when it came just the one on a plate on its own

Paella Mixta - costilla (rib), sausage, squid, prawns and mussels - €13.95 pp

We got the mixed paella which had both meat and seafood. It was massive and didn't expect it to look like this. Thought it would be yellow and be tomato based but it was nice. Stingy on the seafood like just the 2 prawns - 1 each.

Dinner came to €48.84 with 10% service charge - I had to bottles of juice, Holly had a beer and sangria.

After dinner there were loads of random street performers. Felt like an episode of Britain's Got Talent well Spain's Got Talent and there was mad break dancers, people doing all mad tricks with a football and acrobats.

Churros

As I was disappointed with our first day stale churros I had to get them again - I went to this place that was opposite the Sagrada Família but again they were stale and just weren't good. Really disappointed that I didn't get hot fresh churros! I had better ones when I went to Amsterdam a few years ago - they were good!

Restaurante Salamanca

On the second night after going to Montserrat we asked our tour guide Gloria where she recommended for food and she recommended this place right by the beach. It was super busy and is famous for the seafood and overheard the people on the next table say it was also famous for their paella. So that was a good start as I wanted paella!

They gave us this tomato bread which they charge you €3.90 for

Prawns - €26

Seafood Paella - €19.50pp

This paella was more what we were expecting. This was a lot nicer I preferred this one. Even though it was again stingy with the prawns. I basically ate the whole thing to myself though as we hadn't eaten all day Holly got full so quick so I had to eat the majority of it. We were SO full after it and they gave us this like almond sponge cake which was nice and I felt I had to eat as much of it as I could...

Also got this basically lethal petrol to drink after. Holly did shot it I never I couldn't

Dinner came to €82.10 with a 10% service charge - I had 1 glass of juice and Holly got a sangria.

Flor de Grácia

Breakfast on the way to Park Guell we went to this bakery. I got pistachio and cinnamon bun Holly got a hazelnut chocolate one. It was very greasy and not much pistachio - just literally the bits of pistachio sprinkled on the top disappointing.

Mercat de la Boqueria

Food market on Las Ramblas that has all fresh foods

I got one of these mixed seafood cones - was alright. Was weird because he put it in the microwave before giving it to me

Holly got olives

Holly's jamón and cheese

Mimos Born

Last dinner in Barcelona was tapas

Spanish Tortilla - creamy egg with potatoes onion and alioli - €8

Jamón & Cracked Eggs - The famous jamón & huevos estrellados" on a bed of bravas potatoes - €12

Garlic prawns - sautéed in a golden garlic white win and butter - €14

Roasted Veggies - Pepper, asparagus, aubergine, zucchini, carrot with romesco - €11

Catalan Cream - €6

Food was nice  but the jamón sauce had a kick and the prawns weren't as good as the beach dinner we had. The Catalan cream is basically a cold crème brûlée.

This came to €63.90 - I had a juice and Holly had a sangria no service charge.

Belliny

Birthday brunch! - Our last morning was my birthday again and Holly booked us brunch

Not the best matcha I've had turns out it was a chai matcha. I prefer just a normal matcha

I got avocado toast with smoked salmon and a poached egg.

I only realised when we left that they did bagels! The menu was massive so much choice!

Holly also got avocado toast with 2 poached eggs and extra chorizo

As it was my birthday they brought this pancake over with a candle and sang Happy Birthday

This also came because Holly told them in the booking. There was no need with this mad chocolate one! We weren't charged for either of the pancakes so good job I didn't get pancakes or something sweet!

This came to €36.70 no service charge and 2 plates of free pancakes!

You can have anything in a churro! But whether it's fresh and hot is a different story!

Boldu - Doughnuts

There's a few of these dotted around the city - we didn't get one though

We got a Biscoff cookie from here - we seen them bring fresh ones out from the oven but they didn't give us a fresh one

Food was good in Barcelona - I got my paella fix. Holly was sick of it which is why on the last night we didn't get it and it's annoying that 2 of you have to get it. I did want to get a squid ink one from the food market but I had to get a full portion of it but I only wanted a small one.

Sad about the churros and Holly was convinced they were cinnamon but they weren't so that threw us off a bit but I would recommend going to Plaça Reial and to Salamanca by the beach which is super busy!
