Florence

Monday the day after the pool party was officially the second part of the holiday in Florence.

We were stayed at Terra Artis Guest House.

Small bathroom with no-where to put anything.

The room was modern and big but again the plug situation was bad with only 2 plugs in the room.

Had nice little balcony that we didn't use.

It was in this old building which had a mad creepy lift.

We put our bags down then walked to the cathedral which was a 15 minute walk from the hotel.

We went into the Baptistery of St John then went into the cathedral. It was having work done inside and was dark so no good photos.

Florence Cathedral

The detailing on the cathedral doesn't make it look real. It looks like sketch. Definitely one of my favourite cathedrals.

Bell Tower

First gelatos in Florence

After going into the Baptistery of St John we had a time slot to go into the cathedral. The queue was really long and half way around the cathedral but it went pretty quick.

After the cathedral we went up the bell tower

There's different levels you can see out of as you get higher up the tower

After we had a bit of time before our slot to the top of the dome

Not quite the same Rudy's we know

We headed back to the cathdedral to go up the dome.

It's a lot higher than the bell tower so you get an amazing view of the city

It was so sunny. Couldn't see what I was taking a photo of so surprised how well all these photos are.

The dome is definitely worth going. The walk up and down are a bit tough as it's narrow and it's really hot but worth it when you get to the top.

After we just carried on wandering around

We stopped at a Maccies to try and use the toilet but turns out you have to pay even if you buy something.

I tired the pistachio McFlurry. It was just ice cream with pistachio sauce and some crushed biscuits. It was good and gutted this was the only one I had the whole holiday.

Just looks like someone has sketched this on a pad!

We then went back to the hotel got a shower and went out for dinner.

Holly booked Ciro & Sons which she'd been to before when she was last in Florence.

I got the Ravioli with Pecorino Cheese & William's Pears

It was tiny and I was still hungry after it. It also wasn't the right shape for ravioli.

Holly got the Spaghetti with Lobster, garlic, olive oil, chilli pepper and cherry tomatoes

After we went to Spun - tiramisu in a box. Holly got the pistachio one

It was nice. Very pistachio!

I got Sindy one as it was her birthday and she was in Florence also with James, Maya, her parents, Thomas, Annie - the 3 kids and Annie's parents and sister and fam. We could have went for dinner with them but they went for Vietnamese food. They were also staying in Florence but they were staying a bit out and hired a car.

Holly went to a wine window. They serve a glass of wine to you through a window which you have to knock or ring the bell to be served. There's a few dotted around the city.

We walked around and got back to the hotel at 11pm.

Next post Lucca and more of Florence in another post!
