3rd stop of the cruise was Katakolo - it was meant to be Syros but the weather was too bad to stop there. Luckily they did divert us because sometimes it just turns into an extra sea day and 2 was enough.
We were meant to be at Syros 7am - 11pm but due to the bad weather they told us we wouldn't dock there till 4pm - 11pm. Which meant breakfast gym and lunch. We got off the ship on time and didn't need to get a boat. We just walked off onto the port.
Can't even remember what this was.
I'd looked up Katakolo and it's where you go to see Ancient Olympia. You can get the bus or a train there so when we got off we looked to see where we could get the bus. There was a bus that took 30 minutes, €8 return but it leaves at 7pm to get back to the port.
The bus dropped us off at the main town bit then had to walk to the archaeological site.
This road just had loads of tourist shops for souvenirs. Don't think there was anything else to see.
By the time we got there it was 5:30pm so was very pushed for time. Tickets were €20 for the site, museum of the Olympic games & museum of Olympia. I ended up getting a ticket myself, mum and dad didn't bother as there wasn't enough time.
Ancient Olympia - Archaeological Site
It was very cool to walk around the archaeological site and I should have got round it quicker to go the museums.
Mum moaned when I get back why I didn't go the museums and that it was a waste of money. It was annoying that you had to buy the combined ticket and you couldn't buy for just site and not the museums.
The bust arrived at 7pm to take us back to the port. It was annoying that the bus was taking us back to early but then we also didn't check to see if other buses were doing a later drop off we jumped on the first one we seen.
We had dinner in the buffet.
It was really annoying that we didn't get enough time there. Wished this was the stop we were meant to do and it was 7am - 11pm because would have had plenty of time to get around the site and do the museums. Not sure what there would have been to see in Syros even if we had the full day there.
Last stop Ancona, Italy.
