Catania, Sicily

Next stop of the cruise - Catania, Sicily. We docked at 8am and we got up at 7:15am. Had some breakfast

Juk - aka congee/Chinese porridge with tiny bits of chicken. Was alright and had all different sauces - soy sauce, fish sauce, chilli oils etc to add to it.

My go to triple cereal - honey Cheerios, granola and Special K.

We got off the ship at 10:30am and was going to go to Mount Edna but we couldn't find a way to get there on our own. There was an excursion or tour bus we could take but it was too expensive so didn't bother. We just ended up wandering round the place.

We found a market that had fresh fruit and veg, meat, fish, all random accessories, souvenirs, fake clothes and accessories and a section that was a bit like a car boot sale where people were selling vintage and old crap.

The weather was dead nice and really hot when we got off the ship but the forecast did say rain and thunderstorms. It got cloudy then the heavens opened and the thunder and lightning came. Wasn't really anywhere to shelter either.

The Roman Amphitheater at Piazza Stesicoro was cool but we didn't pay to go down and see it.

I got a gelato - 2 scoops €3.80 - Roasted salted pistachio and roasted almond

We got back to the ship at 3:30pm which was early since we weren't departing till 7pm. We had a snack and just chilled for a bit, showered and went for dinner in the restaurant.

Got the ravioli again

Got pesto rigatoni

Holly went to Palermo, Sicily in July and she went in a heatwave and it was so hot she said. The heat was different when we got off the ship and she said the place was quite scruffy which again was true. They have a baroque them for the buildings but they look run down and don't look restored.

It would be good to do a little tour round Sicily so might have to go back and do it properly another time.

Next stop Livorno, Florence.
