Milan

Took a last minute trip away to Italy last week with Holly. We flew into Milan on Monday morning and came back on Friday night. Flights were only booked the Thursday before and we also went to Venice and Verona.

Up at 4:30am to fly from Liverpool Airport. Our Ryanair flight was at 7:50am - took off 5 minutes late but still landed on time at 11am.

We got the bus from the airport to Milan Centrale Station which took 50 minutes and it was a 5 minute walk to our hotel. We had to wear a mask on the bus - as you have to wear a FFP2 mask on public transport but that rule is only till the end of the month.

We stayed at Made to Measure Business which was a weird building - got given a code to open the main door then we didn't know where to go - we went up stairs and went through another door that had a code which lead to the reception. Waited ages for someone to check us in then we went upstairs to our room. It was weird because it was just a section of a building of residential apartments and these hotel rooms.

Our hotel was nice and modern - shower cubicle was a bit small though.

After dropping our bags we went to explore.

Leonardo Da Vinci Statue outside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

This was a 28 minute walk from our hotel - fancy expensive shopping centre!

The lucky bull - if you put your heel in the hole and spin around 3 times it's said to be good luck!

The shopping centre is just full of designer shops - Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada and restaurants. There is also a Leonardo Di Vinci museum with his work.

Duomo di Milano

Once you walk out of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II...

The Duomo just looks amazing both day and night - the architecture just wow!

It's really well lit in the night.

We went into the Duomo and got the stairs ticket - cathedral, archaeological area, rooftop via stairs and museum church of san gottardo which cost €15. If you take the lift option it's €20 but you only get taken up then you have to walk down the stairs. Some American's were behind us while we were walking downstairs moaning about it when it clearly states that if you get the lift it's only up and not down. It wasn't even that high so glad we saved that extra €5! Inside the cathedral you had to cover your shoulders and if you wear shorts you have to cover your legs - so I had to make a makeshift skirt with my cardy.

Inside the Duomo

Don't know who this creepy guy is meant to be

Rooftop

Such good views at the top and would definitely say get the stairs ticket as the stairs aren't even bad - said it was like 251 steps but didn't even feel like that many and don't think you will have got to see the same views.

Museum, Church of San Gottardo

The museum is to the right when you look straight at the Duomo

The weather was hot and super sunny. The perfect weather for the photos. After this we went and got our 1st gelato of the holiday..

Matcha and Vanilla - €2,70 (£2.35)

It was good what we needed because it was so hot. This was from Ciacco which does vegan options not far from the Duomo and the only place (we went to a lot of places) that did Matcha flavour.

Pistachio and Dulce Le Leche - €3,50 (£3.05)

This was after dinner on our walk back to the hotel. This was right opposite of the Duomo - it was a lot creamier than the first - we had this at like 7:30pm and was melting before I could take a good photo - that's how hot it was and creamy!

Then we walked down to Navigli which will be the next post!
