I went to Bastille again for the 3rd time this year at the Jacaranda Baltic.

Still weird saying Bastille when really it was Dan, Charlie Barnes and Moira Mack.

It was an album launch show which was very unexpected and got tickets at the end of October. It was announced as a gig at 8:45pm where you bought either the CD or vinyl and got your ticket for the show. I managed to get 2 CD tickets but then just as I got my tickets they released an earlier show at 6pm due to demand where I also got tickets and got the vinyl. I did say in my last Bastille post when I went to the Manchester Cathedral I could be seeing Dan again soon but didn't realise it would be this soon!

I've proper milked this album for sure - I currently have 2 CDs and a vinyl. Was my most played on Spotify wrapped and I've been to 2 of the candlelight shows - St George's Hall & Manchester Cathedral. Then back to back gigs on the same night. There was no way I wasn't going when it was in Liverpool!

I got there just before 5pm and there was only 2 people already there which I was surprised about. Thought there would be more people. Holly came to meet me. We managed to get on the barrier so close!

Show 1

Show 1 - doors 6pm

Show - 7-8pm

It was so good being so intimate and close. Will never get bored of hearing Dan's voice - it's unreal live.

It's still weird going to these smaller gigs where people aren't singing along or jumping around like the other Bastille gigs. Dan even pointed out how cos it's so quiet people are scared to sing out loud but can hear the hissing and people pronouncing the vowels. People mouthing along to the songs

Did Holy Night the Christmas song but Dan didn't know the words and messed it up which was funny because he's definitely performed it before on a radio show a few years ago.

Love love the new song and can't wait for part 4 to hear it again but this live will definitely be better.

 After the gig I had to go back outside and queue again for show 2 and there was a few people already in the gig as they wouldn't have been from the first. Holly didn't come to show 2 and I was by myself.

Show 2

Wasn't quite as close for show 2 but still close.

The set list was different for the 2 shows. I think show 2 had the better set list. The songs that are different were "requests".  Also did a lot less talking in between songs that than in show 1 as I think he was a lot more nervous and must have settled more in for show 2. The crowd were a bit more rowdy and awake for this one also. People were probably more drunk with this one.

Such a good night love these small intimate shows and so glad I went to both. I do love a big arena/outdoor show but being able to be this close just isn't the same.

Bastille - Give Me The Future Tour

Manchester AO Arena

I went to see Bastille for the 4th time on Friday night at Manchester AO Arena on their Give Me The Future tour. They were amazing as expected!

It's been a long 3 years as the last gig I went to was Lewis Capaldi when he played a random Radio 1 gig in Liverpool's Croxteth Park back in August 2019. Since 2010 I've been to at least one gig a year so I was definitely missing it and was due to see The Killers in 2020 but that's been postponed twice so third time lucky for the 11th June this year! Nothing compares to going to a concert being able to see your favourite band/singer right in front of you where for them 5 hours or so you just forget about everything and just there in the moment. (It sounds cheesy as hell, but if you've been to a gig you know what I mean and if you haven't you really need to go to experience it!) To get a good spot standing near the front also takes a lot of stamina for sure being on your feet for hours. Sacrificing no water and having to fight other people!

I got to Manchester just before 4pm and parked in the car park opposite the arena  - doors were suppose to be 6pm. The arena has the worst system going but you can queue inside (lucky because it was raining and freezing) then you get taken up to the foyer where you queue to get bag checked and go through the metal detector, then queue in front of another set of doors, and they scan your ticket and then you have to queue AGAIN at another set of doors that goes into the actual arena. The final door takes you into the arena from the upper tier so you have to walk all the way down the stairs and depending on what set of doors you choose to go you go from different points of the arena - the back or the sides then you have to walk to the barrier as the stewards will shout if you start running. It's the most annoying and stupid system going - don't get this at Liverpool's arena!

I manged to be 3rd row right in the centre. Which wasn't bad considering I picked the wrong door to be scanned in as the steward was so slow and I was quite far back in the last door queue.

The Native

The Native were the first support act. An indie band with 4 boys. They were alright. They came on on time and had a 30 minute set.

Jack Garratt

Jack Garratt was quite big a few years ago and was played a lot on Radio 1. Most people will know Worry and Breathe Life. He's changed his look now from previously as he naturally has ginger hair but has now died it bleach blonde and wore a sparkly sequenced jumpsuit. He was really good and I would go and see him live. He played a 35/40 minute set.

For Happier Dan came in to the crowd. I was close but not close enough to touch him! 

For the final song Shut Off The Lights they brought The Native and Jack Garratt back out

I'd say this is the most confident I've seen Dan perform and you can tell from the pictures he gives it his everything. I've said this every time I've seen them but they are so good live and are so much better in person. They put on a such a good show but they don't even need to because Dan's voice is that good. If you can still get tickets definitely try and catch them on this tour or at festival. They're playing the Saturday at the British Gran Prix which Holly is going to which I'd love to go! This was the closest I've seen them and wanting to be dead on centre I should have known wasn't going to be the best place. If I was just to the right a bit more I would have been right by him when he came into the crowd! So close yet so far.

They were 5 minutes late and played mainly new stuff from their new album Give Me The Future. Only played the 1 song from the second album Good Grief and got rid of loads of the old stuff from the first album. It was a 22 song set, you can see the set list here. The first song from the encore is a new one that's not been heard before. 

4 years ago today I seen Bastille for the second time on the ReOrchestrated tour which really was them not putting on a show as they had a live orchestra.
