Chinese New Year 2020

恭喜发财! 新年快乐!

Gung Hey Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!

Family gathering at Nanny Wing's for Chinese New Year and Nanny Wing's birthday last night.

Birthday cake made by auntie Christine.

Tracy made a banana bread but didn't have enough time to cook it... She baked it for 30 minutes but it needed to be baked for 45 minutes so tried to do it in grandma's but once you take a cake out the oven that's it, it's game over it won't cook. She should have just brought it to grandma's to bake. So if you go on my Instagram story you will see the aftermath. As it looks cooked here but it wasn't. The middle wasn't cooked so we just had to eat the edges of it.

The next generation of Wing's! Grand kids and great grand kids.
Lucas and Ollie dying to cut the cakes with the knives you can see in their hands.

Didn't make it out into town this year as the weather wasn't great. Also due to the council being skint the celebrations are only happening for 1 day today - Sunday. Usually they have stuff all weekend and the days building up to it but with the cuts they couldn't afford to which I think is stupid because they definitely make money by having events like these?

Nothing will beat last year when me and Jo won the competition to get a selfie with all the zodiac animals. The weather was actually really nice last year as well. Cold but was sunny.

Liverpool Chinese New Year Celebrations 2019

Year of the Pig

恭喜发财! 新年快乐!

Gung Hey Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!

This has come round quick I remember writing the post for last year!
Went into town with Jo after doing a 10 mile run this morning which will be a separate update post.

We went into town at 2pm - the lion and dragon dancing had already started. Most of the celebrations started at 11:30am this morning.

The weather was nice today just really cold. Some of the things got cancelled yesterday due to the gale force winds. It was still a bit windy today but nothing compared to yesterday.

Coat - H&M
Scarf - New Look
Bag - Zara
Jeans - Topshop Jamie
Trainers - Adidas NMD XR1

You can see the lion's dancing on my Instagram story here.

We deserved ice cream after a 10 mile run this morning.. They were massive!

12 artistic commissions of the Chinese Zodiacs have been dotted around the city centre and The Guide Liverpool are doing a competition for the first person to take selfies with all 12 wins a banquet for 2. So me and Jo went round looking for them all. I best have won it!!

The ice cream was defo worth it as I've done 27995 steps today that's 25.62km, burnt 2209 kcal! My legs are so tired and achy right now I think they'll be happy if I never have to run again...

Liverpool Chinese New Year Celebrations 2018

Liverpool Chinese New Year celebrations in town today! The traditional dragon and lion dancing through China town.

As it's the 10 year anniversary since Liverpool won European Capital of Culture it's a big celebration especially with Liverpool's connections with China and the Terracotta Warriors coming to visit. This will be the first time they've been seen in the UK. Hopefully going to see them soon!

I love how much Liverpool embraces the Chinese culture with it being the oldest Chinese community in Europe but I was a little disappointed. I've not been to China town for new year in about about 3/4 years as the weather has been awful the past couple of years. The weather was actually alright today just really cold as I managed to go for a run this morning ! The dragon was tiny and so were the lions which I didn't manage to get a photo of. There was a couple of lions, a blue one, red one and 2 little ones but they didn't look that good. Town was so busy though cos the weather was good it was a big turn out. They had a little stage in St George's square doing performances which they never used to have. You can see the dragon dancing on my Instagram story here @Juki_W

There's a fireworks display later on tonight at 6 in China town!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Over sized floral shirt - Zara, added the ribbons myself which happen to be the perfect colours!

Happy Year of the Dog!

Hoping to go into town tomorrow for the parade as it's meant to be even big and better than usual as it's the 10 year anniversary since Liverpool won European Capital of Culture
