Apples

My dad got a pack shortcrust pastry block from Sainsbury's which was reduced to only 60p! We also had a bag of cooking apples dad brought back home from work, from a colleague's garden which we had to use up so decided to make an apple pie. 

Shortcrust Pastry Apple Pie

I cut the pastry in half then rolled it out to size & thickness I wanted. Line the plate I was baking it into then chopped the apples & filled it.

My dad sprinkled some brown sugar over the apple to make it a bit sweeter

Then put the other half of the pastry over & pressed the edges down with a fork & put some holes on the top to let steam out. Dad trimmed the edges off & did a milk wash over the top.

We baked it until it went golden which took about 30mins at 200°C.

Ta da apple pie! As we didn't add any sugar to it, it doesn't really have much taste but we like eating it with custard anyway so don't want it to be too sweet!

Apple, Pineapple Pie

We chopped up a pineapple & put it with apple to use up the left over pastry. It didn't have a base we just put the fruit onto a try then covered it with pastry & did a milk wash.

We baked it until it was golden about 30mins at 200°C

The pastry shrunk a bit & has come off the edge of the dish!

Whilst getting the pie's out the oven I burnt my wrist on the oven! My wrist only touched the inside for a second & it's left a horrible scar! It's gone white :( I'm not even exaggerating as I am so squeamish but it's horrible! I ran it under cold water straight away & put aloe vera on it but it hasn't helped it hurts :( I'd take a picture but it's not very nice!

My dad has made this a couple of times as he really likes it but I'm not really a fan. He got the recipe online here if you want to try it. It's nice but I'd only make it once & wouldn't think of making it again.

I'm in uni tomorrow 9-10 seminar, 1-2 dissertation lecture, 4-5 lecture. Worst day ever. Uni should start at 10 & finish at 4. Like 9 & 5 is just the worst time for traffic we don't need to add to it by going to uni! Urghh, a start of a long week uni & working whilst having to actually start to do some uni work!

 So last night me & Danielle went to our friends from school Charlie & Connor's house party. (Charlie is also on our uni course). I just dressed quite casual what I'd wear in the day or night. My bargain Urban Outfitters shirt & favourite leather look Topshop jeans. We got there at 9:30. We didn't know anyone there as they're both in the uni rowing team so pretty much everyone there was from rowing. Charlie had laughing gas which he pumped into balloons. I was kinda forced into doing it which I didn't have a problem with just the fact I HATE balloons! The feel of them & when people rub them just goes through me & makes me feel sick never mind putting one in my mouth! But I kinda faced my fear & did it but never ever again! It was horrible ewww! Laughing gas made me seriously light head, it was quite funny. 

They have a pet kitten called Stella (named after Stella Artois) who was left in Charlie's room away from all the drunk people. We sat there for the rest of the night just playing with her. I don't even like cats as I got attacked by one when I was little but she is actually really cute! But I think she hates & is scared of me well she's scared of like everything but me in particular. Danielle was throwing a paper ball at her & her bracelet it was cute! I snapchatted like a whole photo album of her & Danielle to everyone! I also have a photo album on my phone as well.

We left at 12:30 as we were bother knackered & had work in the morning. Danielle was in at 9! Luckily for me I wasn't in till 12 but I was still really tired in work & it was dragging. It was only a 12-4 as well!

Next week I'm not getting a day off as my manager has put me in all the days I said I'm free & off uni! It's gonna be a super long week! I'm in work tomorrow on my usual 11-5 shift.

 It was really cold today it felt like Winter! Winter is fast approaching. I have my woolly jumpers, coat, scarves, gloves, hats all coming out! I like Frodo photo bombing me in the second photo as per usual wanting to be in my photos!

I was in uni today 2-3 for the most awkward seminar ever! It was the gender module & the reading was about menstrual blood. As usual one of the mature students really has no shame whatsoever & tells us all sorts of stories about herself or her family without being embarrassed one bit! While we're all sitting there being embarrassed for her! Laughing at her & not with her. I can't really repeat the story she told us as it makes me feel a bit sick! 

This was just a quick post compared to usual as I want to try & post something everyday on here! I'm off uni tomorrow & maybe going to my friend's house party in the evening so there should be some photos from that!

 I look so moody & the weather was horrible & gloomy which didn't help with me being in uni 9-10 for a lecture yesterday, with an hour gap to prepare to "lead" the seminar with Hannah which involved us sitting in the library coming up with some questions related to the lecture beforehand for the seminar at 11-12. It was so awkward as people weren't really talking/discussing as much as they usually do & the tutor wasn't really saying the same things as we were & was talking about other things... Didn't go well! But when we have to "lead" the seminar & do presentations it never goes well. We're paying them to teach us so why do we have to do their work? We don't even learn from each other, I learn more from them actually teaching me.

I then had a 2 hour gap before my next lecture so went for lunch with my mum & dad down at the pier head next to the "new" museum called the Brasco Lounge Bar which is quite new. It's a nice place but don't think the quality matches up with the price tag.

I had poached eggs, with hollandaise sauce with smoked salmon on English muffins. I've never had hollandaise sauce before & didn't really know what to expect but it didn't really taste of anything? Also don't know whether smoked salmon should be eaten with poached egg? I don't think that combination works. 

I got my dad to take some photos at the dock for me but the weather wasn't very nice so the photos aren't very good! I shouldn't have took these photos either as I was 10 minutes late walking into my lecture at 2-3! I had to do the awkward walk along the front to get to Hannah near the middle of the room! It was awkward & weird lecture as my lecture is such a feminist & was talking about tampons, condoms & all sorts as the module is about gender & the body.

We had the first dissertation lecture yesterday & everyone was hoping it was going to be really helpful but it really wasn't. It was so pointless we could have just read the slides ourselves, was on the verge of falling asleep as it was at 1 but it'd already been in at 9-10, went home had a nap that made me feel worse. I am stressing out over my dissertation as I have no idea what I'm going to do it on. I know I'm interested & like the media but I've emailed my supervisor & he hasn't got back to me which isn't a good start! I seriously hate uni, not been the best 3 years of my life whatsoever! At least I have today off after 2 days of 9ams!
