Gino's 360 Sky Bar & Restaurant

Went out on Friday night with my work mates for a catch up as we were back in the office again for 2 days every week. It's been a while. We went to the Gino's restaurant that has opened on Old Hall Street which is funny because the last time we went out we went to Gino's but the one on Castle Street which has now shut and has become another Italian called River Blu. The last time we went out was for my "unofficial leaving" meal which I will eventually post about what I did last summer when I get the chance to.

The menu is the Autumn & Winter which is pretty similar to the Spring & Summer one we had last time.

I got:

Rigatoni with Wild Boar Ragu
Pancetta, red wine, tomato, pecorino cheese & parsley - £15

Julie got:

Linguine with Seafood
Wild red prawn, mussels, clams, calamari, tomato & chilli - £18.95

Dave got:

Fettuccine Bolognese
Slow cooked beef ragu & pecorino cheese - £14.75

Rosh got:

Bucanti Carbonara
Free range eggs, pancetta & pecorino cheese - £13.95

We also got garlic bread to share. Food was nice, I enjoyed it. Wish I did get the pumpkin ravioli but it's always dead small when you get ravioli but it's probably my favourite pasta.

What wasn't good was the table we booked and the chairs. The chairs were like lounge chairs which were fine to sit on just to sit but not for eating. The seat back was too far back and you couldn't rest your back against it while you were eating. I was sat on the end of the seat to be able to eat. It was really uncomfortable and not good for your back. Poor Julie's back was in bits after it. The other tables had different chairs which looked better.

It was really quiet when we got there as we had the table booked for 4pm which is super early for dinner. The restaurant is in the hotel so the hotel lobby shares the same entrance. After we went up to the 360 sky bar which was really nice as you get a 360 view of the city and it was a nice sunny day. (Will be super popular in the summer!) Unfortunately I didn't take any photos which isn't like me! It would be good if it had a balcony so you could either sit out or even just to take photos but it's indoor only. Rosh didn't book as she thought if you booked downstairs you could go up but we ended up just sitting at the bar as all the tables were fully booked. They also do small plates up there to.

After we just went to a few pubs for drinks which was nice just to have a catch up away from work. I would do anything to be able to just stay at home in work instead of having to go all the way into the office! But I guess 2/5 isn't the worst and you do get to see people but would still rather be in the comfort of my own home.

Tracy and Chris' Wedding

Saturday 10th July 2021
Liverpool Parish Church (Our Lady and Saint Nicholas)

3 weeks ago Tracy and Chris got married at St Nic's in town. It was a small family wedding with only immediate family including me! Tracy's parents, Gary, Kirsty, Lucas, Oliver, Laura, grandma Wing. Chris's parents, his sisters Rachael, Nicola, Nicola's boyfriend Andrew and baby Robyn. It was only a short ceremony unlike most weddings that last for hours. It was a really nice day and loved it. Was a bit weird how most of the family wasn't there but it was still a big celebration.

Tracy looked amazing, loved her dress and hair!

The ceremony was at St Nicholas church in town and then we went for a meal at Gino's and Pan Am.

Amelie is so cute but she hated it and cried all the way through. She doesn't even usually cry but it was like she knew it was her mum and dad's big day so made a fuss.

Gino's

Calamari with roasted veg

Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli - Sage butter & toasted almonds

Passion Fruit Ice Cream

The food did not look great. It looked so much nicer the last time I went. It should have looked better this time if anything as it was for a wedding!

We sent the parents and babies home and went to Pan Am for drinks at the Albert Dock.

Didn't take enough photos! I didn't even get a photo with Tracy and Chris together.
We only had the photographer at the church and all photos taken in Pan Am were on my phone as everyone realised I had a really good camera so I was photographer and my phone just got passed round for photos to be taken.

Loved the wedding and had a really nice day celebrating the new Mr and Mrs Johnson! Thanks for the invite Tracy and Chris!

Love from your favourite cousin

Gino's

Went to Gino's last night with a few people from my team in work - Julie, Rosh and Dave as it was my unofficial leaving meal as I'm starting a temporary new job next week! (I wish it was my official leaving meal, hopefully soon...)
We haven't seen each other since March last year as we've been working from home since then. Once we were all together didn't even feel like it's been that long as we do all keep in touch and speak to each other. It's weird going from seeing each other everyday to then it being over a year since we last did.

Heard good things about Gino's and I finally got to try it! It's so hard to book a table there we ended up booking it for 3:15pm otherwise the next available was 10pm.

Dave and Julie both got Calamari as a starter which looked nice! It came with red pepper, courgette and a garlic mayonnaise. Dave insisted I try some and it was nice.

Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli - Sage butter & toasted almonds

I love ravioli but it's always such a small portion, you get about 10 pieces of pasta. It was really nice and I could have done with so much more!

Pappardelle with Meatballs - Beef & pork, tomato, chilli & parsley

Dave's pasta looked so good.

Didn't get a photo of Julie or Rosh's...

Julie got the King Prawn Risotto - Asparagus, pea, leek & pecorino cheese which also looked really nice and wanted to try but wanted pasta. Should have asked if I could have had pasta instead of rice.

Rosh got the Lasagne - Slow cooked beef ragu, tomato pecorino cheese & basil pesto. This sounded better than it looked.

Crema Catalana - Catalan style crème brûlée

This was disappointing as I LOVE creme brûlée. It just didn't taste nice. The top layer was horrible and the dish was dead shallow so there was hardly any custard under. One side was ice cold and the other side was warm. Should really have sent it back.

Dave paid for dinner and it wasn't cheap. So thanks again for dinner Dave!!

We couldn't book any where else for after so ended up just walking around Castle Street to see if we could get into any bar or pub but everywhere was fully booked and couldn't accept walk ins. We ended up Manhattan Bar and Grill - they let us have a booth for 30 mins then we left and went to The Cornmarket which is a proper old man's pub. It was nice to have a catch up as I won't see them again till September when I'm due back.

Thanks for dinner and my gifts! Will see you all very soon!
