Maray

Is this not the most stereotypical & expected blogger post? Well Kelly's home for the weekend from London so we went to Maray on Allerton Road for brunch.

It's really nice in there & cosy in there. Not much choice on the brunch menu though only 4 options. Me, Kelly & Hannah picked the exact same thing where as Danielle decided to be different.

Avocado on sour dough with hot smoked salmon

Baked English - Sausage, bacon, eggs, horseradish, tender stem, beans, spinach potatoes, & mushrooms

Danielle's looked really good and so was the avocado & smoked salmon however would have preferred the typical smoked salmon & not pieces of actual bits of salmon.

It was so nice to catch up it's been a while since it was the 4 of us!

Spent the rest of the day in town, panic buying for clothes as I'm doing extra work at Cold Feet again tomorrow in Manchester & have no clothes. Just me or are shops rubbish at the moment? Money & particular style wasn't even an issue I just needed anything that would look ok on me & comfortable in! Managed to get a shirt & dress from Zara. Shirt looks like one I already have & the dress looks like 2 dresses I've already got! But at least I bought something Zara was actually the last shop we went to so I had to get something from there but they stuff in there hasn't been great lately.

Up at 5am to drive down to Manchester for a probably really long day of sitting around waiting! Joys of being an extra but it is fun I do enjoy it so watch out when Cold Feet is back in October.

Crust

Went to Crust for dinner last night with Danielle. 100% would recommend it if you're after pizza in Liverpool. It was probably the busiest restaurant in the whole of town, definitely on Bold Street.  All the tables were completely full upstairs & most of the tables downstairs too!

We got one to share as they're pretty big & I wouldn't have been able to eat a whole one to myself. We got quite a posh one, smoked salmon which had caviar & mozzarella. It was really good apart from the rocket which I should've probably asked them to not put in it or at least only half as I ended up picking it all out & giving it to Danielle. The pizza wasn't greasy at all which is probably why I liked it. They have so many different options to choose from. The pasta looked really good too so I'll definitely be going back. They're opening one in Woolton Village with a cocktail garden so it could be the new regular.

Our Kitchen Liverpool

Lunch date with Holly to Our Kitchen on Bold Street - a new vegetarian & vegan restaurant. It was a fitting place to go since it's Good Friday when you're not suppose to have meat. (I did have meat for my dinner as we're not religious & don't really "celebrate" Easter.)

I really struggle to order food when I got to a vegetarian/vegan or salad type place. I never know what to order. Unfortunately I could never be a veggie as I couldn't live without meat & I don't like cheese so would struggle. They had a crispy Asian mock duck salad which sounded nice but I wasn't sure on the "mock duck". They said it was made from gluten which doesn't sound too appealing! I would've been fine if it was real duck!

The interior is really nice it's like someone's kitchen. I don't really like the layout of the tables but I can understand why they're set out like that as they really do make the most of the space & it fits. They have a tiny kitchen at the back but the food comes from downstairs which makes me feel sorry for the waiters having to carry the heavy Buddha bowls up & down!

I made my own juice - mixed berries, pineapple, avocado & apple which was really nice but the pineapple was quite over powering. I got the Our Kitchen super food salad. Which had spinach, avocado, leafy greens & nuts.

Holly got the morning glory smoothie - banana, almond butter, almond milk, hemp protein, cinnamon.
Each day they have a different Buddha bowl & today's was Black bean, tex mex, roasted peppers and onions, avocado & blackened tomato salsa. You can choose to have it with brown rice or quinoa. The teriyaki grilled tofu one sounds really good & would've ordered that. I tried quinoa 2 years ago when I went to Crete but it was served cold & I didn't like it, I tried Holly's this time warm & it should definitely be eaten hot/warm & not cold.

It's really nice in there, it got so busy the tables were full even though it was 3pm. I'd been in work doing over time till 2:30 so it was a late lunch for us.
There's so many new places popping up on Bold Street, every post I do a new one's opened that we want to try! If Holly didn't live in Nottingham we probably would've tried them all!

My claim to fame I was on Hollyoaks today as an extra! I was on the episode that was on Channel 4 at 6:30pm. If you follow me on Instagram you might have spotted it on my story.

Freakshakes & Sushi

Met up with Danielle & Hannah after work to go to Hus as they were opening their roof top terrace & were having a free bbq. We went up & it was super busy & we weren't feeling it. It was super sunny, blue skies & was freezing.

It was really nice up there but it was so crowded with a little bar. Perfect beer garden weather apart from it being freezing. We decided to go down the road to Barley and Beans.

Barley and Beans

Barley and Beans is quite hidden & out of town off Tithebarn Street near the original Lambanana. It's a little hidden gem, cosy little cafe that does the famous freakshakes, milkshakes, tea, coffee, pancakes, sandwiches & burgers.
Danielle & Hannah got the freakshakes. I was boring & got a green tea. It was diabetes in a jar man v food!

Gunpowder green tea

Danielle got the strawberry freakshake

Hannah got the salted caramel freakshake

They just look so sickly!

Izakaya

After we went to Izakaya which is on Castle Street right by the Town Hall as I needed proper food having been in work all day & also not getting anything at Barley and Beans. Danielle managed to have all her freakshake & shared sushi with me. I guess she was just having desert first?

Pork gyoza with chilli bean & sesame dressing

2 salmon nigiri, 4 shrimp & salmon volcano rolls & 4 spicy tuna rolls

Enoki & vegetable ramen with soft egg

The sushi was really nice but not filling so I ended up ordering the small ramen.
I'd advise you check your bill when you pay as the bill price was different to what was on the menu. They've changed the prices on the menu but they were still giving out the old menu with the old prices! It was fine though they sorted it straight away & corrected it.

The bus journey took us half an hour just trying to get out or town due to Aintree races, ladies day there was so much traffic! Me & Danielle were loving it seeing all the people dressed up. Thought girls were being really clever or it was the new trend to take flip flops with them but it turns out they were giving them out to people, which is a really good idea! Tomorrow is the one time of the year where everyone is a gambler betting on the grand national. I've never won anything but it's more luck than anything as the favourite hardly ever wins.

Bongo's Bingo

Every Thursday night at the Camp & Furnace Bongo's Bingo takes over. It's been going on for the past 2 years & I've been wanting to go for ages. Holly last minute asked me on Wednesday if I wanted to go as her sister had a spare ticket.

Tickets are £10, when you get there £1 for the bingo book & pen. Tickets are always sold out especially when they have a special event one where they have special guests.
I'm sure you've probably seen & heard all about it, it's exactly everything you see & hear about it. Not ordinary bingo - a rave, a dance off a bit of everything. It's so good I'd definitely go again - when I'm not in work the next day preferably.

I've never played bingo so didn't really know what I was doing but you get it straight away. The prizes are crazy they had - a Henry Hoover, TV, giant fluffy pink unicorn, Mr Frosty Ice Maker, a piece of art, Bruce Forsyth cut out, bottle of Gordon's Gin, a pigeon head, Belle doll, litre bottle of Malibu, a acoustic guitar, a bottle of Captain Morgan's, a space hopper, giant inflatable t-rex suit thing, a box of coco pops. I think that was all the prizes... For getting a line, then 2 lines & a full house. I was 1 number away from winning the bottle of Malibu. It was so annoying the number I needed was 60 & the number that won was 6!!

There's also a prize draw to win money, £50, £100, £150 & £200. The number for £100 was 12150 I had 12158 was ready to jump up for that. So close!! If it's your number you go on the stage answer the question & you win the money pretty easy! Slightly guttered I didn't win anything but still had a good night.
