Amsterdam

It's been over a month since I went to Amsterdam but the posts are finally gonna be up! This is part 1 of the 4 days!

Day 1

Our flight was at 7am on Saturday morning from Liverpool Airport with 3 hours sleep. Luckily the flight is only an hour. We got the train to the hotel as we were staying in the Holiday Inn next to Sloterdijk station which was only 10 minutes away from Schiphol airport. We couldn't check in till 3pm so we left out bags there and had some breakfast.

You can get tickets for the bus and tram that you just tap when you get on and off.
7.50€ for 1 day. 12.50€ for 2 days. 17.50€ 3 days. 22.50€ for 4 days.
We got the bus into the centre to Centraal Station which takes about 25 minutes then changed to the tram to go to go Anne Frank's house. You have to pre book your tickets online that are released in advance otherwise they release 20% of tickets on the day so you just have to go on the website to try and find tickets! We tried to get tickets for an hour later but the payment didn't process so we ended up leaving and I spent the day checking to get tickets. We ended up getting tickets for the evening for 6:15pm.

It was bigger than I thought it was, it's so sad in there and makes you so angry, how it all happened that it was actually real. You learn and hear all about the war in school but it doesn't really hit you till you see it with your own eyes. Try and get tickets in advance if you can otherwise on the morning that you're planning on going get tickets! Tickets are 10€ it's definitely worth going.

We walked from Anne Frank's house to Dam Square.

Dam Square

Madame Tussauds

The Royal Palace

Dam Square is the main square full of tourists where The Royal Palace is and Madame Tussauds. It's walking distance from Centraal Station or you can just get the tram down.

We went back to Centraal Station to get the ferry. They have a free short ferry that takes you to the other side where the eye film museum, A'Dam lookout/Amsterdam Tower and This is Holland museum.

How do you even remember where you've left your bike?!
It's mad everyone rides a bike! You won't get ran over by a car you will get ran over by a bike!

Eye Film Museum
Amsterdam or Liverpool? Looks just like the Museum of Liverpool

We ended up coming back here as we didn't realise it was free to go in when we first got there. It was a museum about how the history of film. How films are made with a few cinema screens.

A'Dam Lookout/Amsterdam Tower

Wanted to up there so bad to go on the swings but my mum didn't want to go up and I couldn't go up there on my own!

We want back to the ferry terminal and took the longer ferry over to other side you could go to. There was a weird festival going on. Didn't really know what it was so we just had a wander round.

It's weird that you can go on the ferry for free but you can't go the toilet for free. All public toilets even in Maccies or Burger King you have to pay 70c for even if you buy food! The only places you can go for free are proper restaurants and some shopping centres.

It was a long day and we were going to eat at the Italian next to the restaurant, they sat us down then just never came back to take our food order so we couldn't be bothered waiting so ended up just getting a salad from the Spar to eat in the room.

Holiday Inn Sloterdijk

My hotel room was nice spacious and clean!

Part 2 will be up tomorrow or later this week!

Some of the photos were taken with my Nikon 1 J2 camera while others were taken with my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone.
