Went to Tiger Rock with my cousin Sindy on Monday night as she was staying with me. I've been wanting to try Tiger Rock for a while so I finally went to the one on Smithdown Road. (They've opened one now in town on North John Street opposite the Hard Day's Night Hotel.)
We went straight from the gym, luckily it's quite chilled and laid back in there. Some people were dressed up but it's not somewhere you have to though.
It's East Asian street food with loads of little plates to choose from. We picked a few things we liked the sound off.
Beenk Hoi Then - Grilled Scallops with Asparagus
Grilled Salmon with Teryaki Sauce - Special
Small Bowls
Nasi Goreng - Popular Malaysian Hawker Food, Chicken Fried Rice with Fried Egg & Prawn Crackers
Gon Chaun Udon - Cantonese Stir Fried Beef Noodles with Beansprouts
Siu Pai Qat - Chinese Style BBQ Ribs
Apple Spring Rolls with Coconut Ice Cream
We ordered 2 small plates then 2 small bowls. Felt like it wasn't enough so ordered the ribs after seeing other people had ordered it! The food was nice but my noodles were a bit greasy. The apple pie spring rolls were different but good tasted better than we though they were going to! The belly pork looked really good and wished we ordered it as it looked like proper Chinese style you'd get on a Chinese restaurant.
We liked it but turned out to be more expensive than we planned as the food wasn't filling and you just have to keep ordering more! It ended up costing us £38 which isn't cheap for small plates that aren't that filling. It's a clever idea having different Asian dishes - like the best bits that everyone likes from each country in one place!
