River of Light Festival

Went to see the River of Light Festival last night with Jo.

It's a 9 day festival that's been running from the 1st November and is on till tonight. There are 11 light installations around the waterfront. It's been on every night from 5pm - 10pm and there was a fireworks display last Sunday for bonfire night that looked so good which I was going to go to but didn't end up going sadly.

They had guards at each of the installations giving out maps so you could follow the trail. So we went to find the first one that was meant to be on The Plaza building on Old Hall Street but we couldn't find it so went to the second one at the Parish church.

2 Globoscope - Liverpool Parish Church

The lights light up along with music.

We went back to try and find the one at The Plaza and did a lap round the whole building and couldn't find it so went to see the rabbits in Exchange Flags.

1 Intrude - Exchange Flags

3 Flight - Royal Liver Building

4 Spiders - Cunard Building

The spiders dance along to music.

5 Submergence - Mann Island Atrium

This was my favourite one out of them all. Definitely better in person.

We spoke to one of the guards in there and they told us the 1st one on the map they were giving out doesn't exist so was a waste of time trying to look for it! But I was determined to find it so was on a wild goose chase. They should have said when they handed the maps out number 1 doesn't exist.

6 Cetus - Mann Island Basin

This is just outside of the atrium. This is part of the constellations actually looks better in person but was hard to get a picture as it changes so quickly.

7 Portal - Albert Dock

This was weird and we didn't stay long for it. There needed to be music with it There's a showing every 15 minutes.

8 Run Beyond - Salthouse Quay

This was cool each one lights up one by one then they all light up together.

9 Whole Hole - Wapping Dock

This looks better from a far. The lights are too spaced out when you walk inside but still looks good!

10 Flock - Liverpool One Steps

Don't think you were suppose to climb in it hence the barriers...

11 Light Bench - Chavasse Park

This was up at the top of Chavasse Park at the top of the stairs after the wings.

Looking bit like a sun bed...

Number 5 was our favourite and so were the bunnies!

Liverpool looks so nice at night. The festival should be on for longer and not just 9 days. It definitely isn't long enough for people to experience as it's only been on for one full weekend. Love that Liverpool does things like this! Hope you got the chance to see it.
