Christmas 2020

Christmas at the Wing Johnson's this year. A lot smaller than the usual Wing dinner and so weird to not be with them all. This is only the second time I've not been at Nanny Wing's for Christmas as I spent Christmas 2016 in Spain with my mum, dad and brother. It just wasn't the same at all and I didn't like it. Sadly this year we had no choice, we just couldn't all meet up and be together even after the horrible year we've had.

It was the first time I got to meet Amelie who's now 2 months old which is mad as I would have seen her when she was 1 month she would have a party as Chinese tradition and probably a few times before Christmas if it was a normal year. I only seen Tracy once when she was pregnant and she hasn't even seen our grandma all year which is really sad as she's her first great granddaughter.

Amelie's first Christmas! She is so cute and really good I wish I could see her more!

How cute are her little Christmas tree socks!

Bella is such an attention seeker she would scratch my leg to stroke her.

We ate at 4:30pm and was starving as didn't have any breakfast. Tracy did tell me we were eating at 3pm!

Chris cooked - we had chicken, beef and gammon. So much veg, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire pudding just so much food but sadly no turkey! I say I like turkey but really though if you gave me chicken and said it was turkey I probably wouldn't even know the difference. Was so full after it but still had like 2 Costco cookies after dinner.

Annual cousin photo with added social distancing for 2020.

It didn't feel like Christmas but it was nice to be able to see each other and just spend some time together after the horrible year we've all had.

I hope you had a good Christmas even if it wasn't the usual! Sadly I don't get to see the other cousins this year but hopefully will get to see them next year and things will be better.

The Holiday

Our annual Christmas catch up.
This year we went to Birdie's bar and bbq in the Baltic Triangle to watch my favourite film The Holiday! Only we never watched any of the film it was just on in the background. We paid £5 per person deposit for a hut which has a table and benches with a TV. The £5 went towards the food and drinks so we basically just got to have a hut with a Christmas film on in the background.

We did secret santa again where we each picked a theme.

My theme this year was hand cream. Hannah got me a tub of O'Keefe's working hands, hand cream and a tiger bread baguette. Thanks Hannah!
This is the theme now thanks to David last year getting me a different baguette. I'm getting a baguette every year as part of my secret santa.

Kelly's theme was home décor - I got her a giraffe photo frame and candle

Danielle's theme was Harry Styles - Kelly got her a Harry Styles print and photo frame for it to go in

David's theme was stationary - Danielle got him a pen, bulldog clips, notebook and water bottle that had some expletives on them

Hannah's theme was self care - David got her gin and tonic truffles and Cath Kidston hand cream

We all got food as you can't have an alcoholic drink without a substantial meal. Me, Kelly and Hannah got the festive turkey sandwich, Danielle got the pork but we split ours in half shared and David got the veggie option.

Both the turkey and pork were nice surprisingly!

We booked the hut for 4pm and we got it until the film finished at 6:15pm as they were doing another showing of a different film after.
I went into town as I needed to get a few bits while the 4 of them went for more drinks at the Baltic Market. Town wasn't that busy managed to go to every shop I wanted to apart from Zara. It had a big queue as they started their sale early this year. Once I was done I met up with them and the 4 of us bar Hannah went to Asda to help David get his last bits of Christmas shopping. Also helped Danielle get her beige oven party food.

Very different Christmas this year I'm sure for everyone. No gathering at Nanny Wing's instead I'm going to Tracy's on Christmas day as she had a baby girl in October so this will be the first time I get to meet Amelie! A lot smaller but will be just as nice and a change from being at home.

The Lanterns at Chester Zoo

Went to Chester Zoo last night for The Lanterns at Chester Zoo. Sarah got us tickets for my birthday.
It was really good and Christmassy. Luckily we never went the night before when it didn't stop raining all day but it did rain while we were there and was freezing! Need to invest in some gloves I can still use my phone with.

There's all different themed lanterns along the way.

The solar system was probably my favourite.

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen on my story there was 2 dancing zebras and it was so funny.

Sloths!

Father Christmas with some questionable reindeers

Pegasus

The women in the parrots were funny

It took just under an hour to get round. It was full of families and little kids but think we were both more excited then they were.

I feel more Christmassy now especially when this year is just a write out off and just not the same. First time I've properly been out and done something since my birthday in August since we've been in lockdown again. It was nice to be out and we took a little trip to Cheshire Oaks after and I manged to get a few things from the Nike shop.

Christmas is going to be so different this year but hopefully it will be good considering the year we've had!
