Venice Night 2

The last night in Venice! After exploring we went back to the hotel and I got a shower and washed my hair then we went out for dinner. We did find an area that we liked earlier on but couldn't remember where it was or how to get there so ended up going to this restaurant we thought looked ok and was busy. It was down an alley way by one of the Venchi gelato shops.

I got Seafood Tagliatelle as seafood is meant to be good in Venice.

It wasn't great - the seafood wasn't anything special and there wasn't much sauce. Was disappointed. I actually wanted to have risotto but 2 people have to have it so I was like is no one else ordering it and the guy was like no but when we walked past before sitting down we did see this couple having it and it looked nice.

Holly got Pesto Tagliatelle

This came to €55 - bottle of water, Holly got a glass of wine, 2 pastas and a salad. Got charged €3 each caperto and then a 10% service. This place was also annoying as they wouldn't let us pay part cash and card had to be one or the other.

Food wasn't great considering how much we paid for it as it was the most expensive meal so far of the trip. Wouldn't recommend.

After we went on a walk and got our second gelato fix of the day and last in Venice.

Obviously took a photo because it said "no foto". It was weird because most of these creepy masks had "no photo" but there was one or two shops we seen that didn't have that sign. I mean I don't know who's buying these masks

Our second gelato of the day from Suso gelato

I got pistachio €2,50 with a dipped cone. I think Suso is a Venice only gelato shop. We've been wanting a gelato with a wafer but it was disappointing as it was stale and not crunchy!

And that's the end of our time in Venice! It was definitely my favourite place we went to even though it is very touristy. It doesn't smell like people say - just the odd bits you will smell the sea (salt water) or something unpleasant but I think that's normal for most places. It might smell in the winter or when it floods but considering it was like 27° we thought it might smell but was fine.

You will have noticed we're both wearing a yellow band on our wrists - mosquito bands as Holly's mate that was there before we went said she got bit badly so told us to be prepared so we got the bands and use bug spray each day before we left out hotel and we didn't get bit at all.

I think Venice is definitely worth a visit and would say go in the summer. Things are reasonably priced if you venture out away from the tourist hot spots like the Rialto Bridge or St Mark's Square. Hope you like pistachio and if you do you need to try everything pistachio flavoured!

Next stop is Verona...
