Part of my birthday celebrations I went to Paris at the start of September for 5 days with Jo. 2 weeks after getting back from Athens. We did 2 days at Disneyland Paris and had 2 days of touristy stuff. It was a joint birthday trip for my 30th and Jo turning 40 in April. I got it booked in before the end of September for the 30th anniversary celebrations of the park.
Our flight was on Sunday evening 5:30pm but didn't take off till 5:46pm. We landed on time at 8pm and I just wasn't ready for how quick it was. Jo provided the snacks and oh did she provide...
Our flight was empty and luckily had the row to ourselves and we had so many snacks... We had smoked salmon with cream cheese, mustard and cucumber bagels. Had BBQ pork and cucumber wraps and just so many snacks that you can't even properly see them all. I brought some snacks but Jo was next level. She said she even had to put some back cos she originally had even more! At least we wouldn't starve!
I'd messaged the hotel for the best way to get there and was advised to get the train then the metro but because we landed so late the airport train had finished so we had to find an alternative route to the hotel. So we ended up getting off at the wrong stop and ended up in the middle of nowhere and couldn't get back on the train to go back where we came from as it was shut so was stranded and ended up having to get a taxi to the hotel which cost £26. We ordered it on Lift and said it was only a couple of minutes away but waited ages. We eventually got to the hotel at 11:30pm.
I got a shower first and could hear Jo using sellotape and was thinking what is she doing and came out and she'd done this!
(This photo looks like I've stole it off Google but I did actually take it myself on my phone!)
The hotel was nice and modern - we got a triple deluxe room which is what they had left. I booked it through Easyjet holidays flights and hotel.
Disneyland Park - Day 1
The plan was to get up early to get to the park when it opens but cos we got back so late and didn't set an alarm we didn't get up till 8am and left at 9am. We went to Lidl which was round the corner and on the way to the train station to get breakfast and get food for the day. We got the train from Val D'Europe station which is a 20 minute walk from our hotel, 1 stop to Marne La Vallee Chessy - Disney's own train station.
Jo got us printed t-shirts and Minnie Mouse ears!
My favourite thing that follows me around when I'm on holiday.. some sort of construction work/scaffolding!
Still got to work on straightening that standing leg!
We had no idea where anything was so the first ride we ended up going on was right down at the back of the park in Fantasyland - Casey Jr. Le petit train du cirque. Proper little kids train in a circle. Then we walked over to Discoveryland and queued an hour thinking it was a ride but...
Photos with Darth Vader!! Couldn't believe absolute waste of time. We don't even like Star Wars! Not even like it was Mickey Mouse. The real ride was the place next to it then we managed to find the real rides...
Afternoon character parade on main street - I didn't really take any photos as I recorded it and posted on my Instagram story!
At 9pm it was Disney D-Light - drone and fireworks for the 30th anniversary.
Crazy crowds of people all leaving at the same time.
So I went to buy a train ticket from the machine to get back but it wouldn't let us through the barrier so had to queue to the kiosk and we had a bus ticket! We didn't get back to the hotel till just before 12am when the train takes less than 5 minutes!
Walt Disney Studios - Day 2
We were again suppose to get up early for opening but cos we got back so late we left at 9am again and went to stock up more food in Lidl as the day before we didn't have enough proper food we were just eating sugar all day!
Raided the bakery for pastries and pizza - yep double ice cream for breakfast as it was a box of 4 so had to eat 2 each.
We did Walt Disney Studios - the weather wasn't great was cloudy and was forecasting rain...
We went to the watch the Stitch show first which was funny but defo aimed more at kids.
Tower of Terror was so good!
(Left back row)
When we got off it started to absolutely piss it down and we queued for Crush's Coaster that said 70 minute wait and it did take that long even you sit in cars of 4 and there's a few going at a time. But then towards the end up go up and you wait ages before it throws you down and we thought it was broke and we were stuck so think that's why it takes ages. Because we waited that long on it we decided for the next couple of rides to go solo rider. We went on Ratatoutille straight away on solo and ended up in the same car just not next to each other.
It was really heavy rain and horrible but luckily it was still warmish.
The Avengers roller coaster was so good!
Crying at this picture.. So Jo just gave my phone to the next randomer that went past and he was taking ages to take our photo I was like what idiot have you picked and it was cos he took a selfie and after was like look at check... The photos he did take were half decent luckily.
This side of the park was only small so we went back to the otherwise to catch Mickey's magic show and to go in Cinderella's castle the stuff we didn't get to do the day before but it was too late they were shut by the time we went over.
So went on this again straight after and asked to sit in the very front and then wasn't even ready for the photo! It's because it's right at the start of the ride.
As most of the other rides had shut and people were waiting to watch the fireworks you could just walk straight onto this especially if you were going on single rider. Jo was queuing to go on Autopia a car that just goes round and the wait was 30 minutes and I wanted to go again but she said she would be sick so I went again for the 3rd time in a row by myself and managed to go on it and get back and she was still waiting! I probably could have done a 4th and still wouldn't have been our turn yet. Hyperspace Mountain defo my favourite ride.
€5 for a Mickey chocolate hazlenut cookie
We looked every where for this top in a size XS but all they had left were these S and XL - we were gutted!
The saddest looking ice cream cone - I hadn't even eaten it yet it was THIS small!
Had the best 2 days at Disney! Was annoying and gutted it did rain on the second day and the forecast wasn't lying to me so I did have an umbrella. All the rollercoasters and most of the rides are inside which makes sense because it is open all year around. The weird thing with the rollercoasters are they're in pitch black. There's no lights you can't see anything! You keep your bag under your feet even when you're flying upside down which is mad and does save a lot of time without having to wait for people to put their bags down and get them and you don't need a bag holder. 2 days were enough even though we didn't get to go on and see everything. Don't know why kids aren't in school but it's definitely worth a visit and the firework drone show was good glad we got to see that.
Actual Paris and the Eiffel Tower to come..
