Athens Part 2

Athens Part 2 going to all the other places that were part of our ticket we bought when we went to the Acropolis. A mix of things we did on our first full day on Friday and on the second full day on Saturday.

Hotel breakfast where you just get a bit of everything and anything!

This honey comb was cool

Maccies in Athens do ice cream cones and in a waffle cone not the crap little ones they used to do here and in Verona

Temple of Olympian Zeus, Olympieion

So we seen this on the first day when we seen Hadrian's Arch but didn't know what it was. Could see it all through the gate didn't even need to pay to go in. We were looking for Temple of Zeus for ages and was google mapping it but couldn't find it until we got to the entrance around the other side! We basically slagged it off and said it was crap then Zeus paid us back the next day when we went to the Temple of Poseidon...

Roman Agora

This was also something you can see without having to pay to go in from the outside.

Ancient Agora

This you can't see from the outside and get your monies worth! That €30 ticket only really worth going to the Acropolis and here. Think the ticket for here was €10 then all the others were €6 each but you wouldn't pay that for them as you can see them from the outside anyway which is probably why they do this combined ticket.

Temple of Hephaestus

We could see this from the Acropolis Hill but had no idea what it was. It looked dead far away but everything is really close and walkable

Kerameikos

This is a cemetery and again you wouldn't pay to see this and it's a bit further away from everything else. The only thing we didn't do that was part of the ticket was Aristotle School Lykeion because by the time we came here it was shut but googling it wasn't anything interesting and we didn't miss.

I'd already had an ice cream from Maccies after going to the Acropolis and got this before we went to the Roman Agora. The ice cream was weird and was meant to be soft serve. Defo prefer normal soft serve ice cream but this was good and cost mf €6!

Holly got this ice lolly from the place next door which was fruity

After we walked back to the hotel to get a shower and wash our hair to head out for dinner. We went to a restaurant called Kalamaki Bar - which we googled did the best Soulvaki in Athens. It was a bit out of the touristy bits but only a 6 minute walk from the Acropolis.

We got one of each kalamaki skewer
From left to right - Pork, chicken, kebab, veil and lamb
Pork, chicken and kebab were €2,20
Veal and lamb were €3,50

Our favourite were pork and kebab. They both had the most flavour and our least favourite was the veal and think it was quite raw even though we asked for medium rare.

We also got Hummus and whole grain pita bread.

Quinoa Salad - Quinoa, avocado, cherry tomatoes, raisins, parsley, spearmint and fresh onions - €8,50

Bosporus Salad - Cabbage, carrot, pomegranate, green apple, raisins and lemon vinaigrette - €6,50

It was meant to have fennel and celery in the Bosporus salad but asked for without. The salads were huge but nice and refreshing. The food was good and wasn't expensive.

A great and successful trip for my 30th to Athens to get that ticked off the bucket list. Unfortunately it was too short with only 2 days but we managed to get everything I wanted done.
