Canada Wedding

Tony and Vinna's Wedding

Venue TwentyTwo The Westin Ottawa, Canada
Saturday 17th August 2019

What we went to Canada for.. Tony and Vinna's wedding the second day after landing. It was a such a nice day - well not weather wise but the actual wedding and ceremony was. It was actually the 1 day out of the whole week we were there did it actually rain but we won't talk about that.

I don't know if it was normal for a Canadian wedding but it was very different to any wedding I've been to in the UK. The ceremony started at 11am for about an hour then the evening meal wasn't till 5pm. So there was a massive gap in between. It was all very over the top and mad but really fun so I think UK wedding's need to step it up a bit...

It was at Venue Twenty Two at the top of The Westin Hotel above the Rideau Centre shopping mall. You got a 270° panoramic view of downtown Ottawa.

My dress - Topshop
Necklace - New Look
Heels - Carvela, Kurt Geiger

Tracy's Dress - Asos Tall
Bag - Vivienne Westwood
Hair Band - Ebay

Parliament Hill where we were the day before for day 1.

It was weird how the all the grooms men all walked down the aisle on their own, then the groom came down on his own, all the bridesmaids did, the page girl and boy together, the bride's mum was walked down with her brother then the bride did on her own. Never seen that before. Like a little cat walk.

We we weren't allowed to use our phones during the ceremony just to the let the photographers do their thing which I guess is fair since they would have paid loads for them.

Post ceremony photo shoot...

How to get a good selfie photo and angle...

Me and Tracy did a quick change then we went for lunch with some of the others down at Joey in the Rideau Centre.

I got the Tune Poke Bowl - sashimi grade ahi tuna poke, crispy wontons, green papaya slaw, miso dressing, brown rice

Tracy got Spaghetti Pomodoro - Calabrian chili spiked tomato sauce, whipped ricotta, fresh basil, parmesan

Got calamari to share

Debbie got The New Cobb Salad - romaine + kale, double smoked bacon, soft boiled egg, grilled chicken breast, Grana Padano dressing

Bonnie got Baja Fish Tacos - lightly breaded shrimp & fish, white corn tortilla, Valentina’s, guacamole, cheddar cheese, no fries here

After me and Tracy walked around the shopping centre. Tracy got a few bits I didn't get anything as everything was expensive and nothing I liked. Chris got off on his own to get his hair cut while we had lunch with everyone and shopped. Once he was done we met up with him and went back to their Airbnb they were staying in. The owners have The biggest cat ever it's actually the cat in the Secret Life of Pets...

These photos don't actually make him look as big as he actually is!

Me and Tracy both got changed - well I wasn't going to but Tracy was so I decided I needed to as well so ended up borrowing one of Tracy's dresses.
We got a taxi back to the same venue. The reason there was such a big gap was they were using the exact same room they used for the ceremony for the evening meal so the room needed to be flipped to fit all the tables.

Canapés

Can't remember what this was

Crispy duck wrap

Cake made by Bonnie

There was a mad entrance from the bride and groom. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were the "wedding party" come in dancing to Party Rock Anthem before the bride and groom made their way in. You can watch it on my Instagram highlights Canada Wedding.

Played a game where we made the bride and groom kiss.

Salad - Wild greens, root veggies, goat cheese

Starter - Digby scallop, togarashi, tatsol, fennel

Main Course - Filet of beef, bordelaise, garlic potatoes, veggies

Between courses there were speeches from the bridesmaids, groomsmen, Karen and Michelle. One of the groomsmen was the MC for night hosting the night by going up and speaking.

Dessert Table - Salted caramel dark chocolate cheesecake, deconstructed strawberry cheesecake, fruit martini, tiramisu

Fruit martini and deconstructed strawberry cheesecake

Tiramisu

The food was nice - loved the scallop and the main was good. Good dessert selection.

Mini Beavertail

Blurry photo but you could have it plain or add your own cream and chocolate to it.

First Dance

Gave out sparklers

They timed it well as in Parliament Hill every Saturday of August they have fireworks with different themes. The theme of the night was Mexico. It looked like they had fireworks for their wedding it was cool.
