Winner's Meal

2 weeks ago me & Kelly won the pub quiz at The Elephant. We did really well considering we only got 2 questions wrong & missed out on 1 question. The quiz is done electronically so if you're the fastest to answer in that round you get bonus points. The first round was on news of the week, then it was on the Euros well about England, holiday destinations & last round was feel good music so you had to guess the song. I told Kelly we were there to win it cos I am ridiculously competitive & we did. We were top 3 throughout then at the end we just smashed it!

Tonight we went to claim our free meal, 2 mains & a bottle of prosecco. I wasn't actually sure as to where our free meal was for either at the Elephant or the Liberty Tavern which is part of them as I got a little too excited when we won. But I rang up the other day to book & they weren't sure either but since they gave me an elephant business card I guess it must be for there.

Kelly got the steak & chips the most expensive thing on the menu at £17.50. I got the pan fried fillet of hake at £14.50 which was the 3rd most expensive thing on the menu. I think the menu is a bit rubbish not much choice really as it is a pub. I would never pay £14.50 for what I got as it was pretty small & nothing special but it was free so I can't complain! Kelly was glad she was with me as she had the whole bottle of prosecco to herself.

The pub quiz is run every Tuesday night at 9pm where they also do 2 for 1 on their pizzas.

Chicken, pesto, boccacini, parmesan

BBQ chicken, piquillo peppers, buffalo mozzarella, green onion

Our team name

I'll be back soon to win the quiz again!

Cheap skate date

My partner in crime Holly is back from Nottingham for good! She's finished her year doing her BPTC so we finally got to catch up. We went to The Bagelry which we've been wanting to try since we found out about it. It's located in a strange location right at the bottom of China Town. It would fit better if it was on Bold Street but it was busier than I thought it would be. I would recommend & would love to go again.

I got the poppy bagel with peanut butter. Holly got the rye bagel with maple & pecan cream cheese. They were nice we really enjoyed them. The peanut butter was a bit salty but the cream cheese was good & I'm not a cheese person. We both really wanted blueberry bagels but they didn't have any in today.

We got vegan coconut macaroons which wasn't quite what we were expecting. As they won't be made with egg & less sugar they weren't that sweet so didn't feel as guilty eating them.

They had a French pastry chef so had all these amazing pastries. They were bringing them out fresh straight out the oven while we were eating our bagels & I really wanted the pan aux raisin but I'm going on holiday on Tuesday so had to give in to the temptation! Looked so good though & would've been so nice warm & fresh!

We then went to the Odeon in Liverpool One to see The Secret Life of Pets. 2 for 1 with Meerkat Movies only £3.75 each which is good for the cinema considering it's so expensive now!

The film really funny not what I was expecting but it was good. It's made by the same people who created the Despicable Me Minions so I knew it was going to be good.

It was nice to have a catch up after not seeing each other since Valentine's Day when I went down to Nottingham for the weekend. It was a cheap date day as the lunch & cinema only came to £9. An adult peak cinema ticket in the Odeon costs more than that!

In my last post I encouraged people to vote Remain in the EU referendum but somehow the UK decided to vote leave which I still can't get over & don't believe happened. I don't understand how stupid & narrow minded people are in this country I live in & call home. I am most definitely not proud to be British right now & really worried. How people can vote for something that was backed by the most hated people in the world surely that was enough to sway people's votes.

Hate crime has gone up by 54% with things being heard like "go home". How can anyone claim they own or belong to any country? Even the Queen has German blood & Prince Philip has Greek blood. No-one has 1 single bloodstream everyone started from somewhere. I might be 100% Chinese since my mum & dad are but I have English & probably something else in it too as we've had English married into our family. It's them useless people on the dole claiming immigrants are stealing jobs yes them immigrants that have a degree, who are paying taxes & contributing to the economy are 100% stealing your job that you can't be bothered looking for or have no qualifications for!

I am so angry that people are so stupid & narrow minded that they just can't justify their arguments! We all have to suffer now because of them. Also the fact the older generation who aren't going to live to see this out have decided our future. I do wish I did more to encourage & educate people but I thought people were clever but clearly I'm living in the wrong country with idiots. If you wish to discuss this or think I'm feel free to contact me because I cannot accept how anyone voted leave!

The Queen in Liverpool

The Queen was in Liverpool today 4 years since her last visit here. She came to officially open Alder Hey Children's Hospital & the Exhibition Centre.
She arrived at Lime Street station by royal train at 10:30 am.

From there she headed to the International Festival for Business where she chatted to delegates bout the latest hi-tech gadgets with the Duke of Edinburgh.

She then unveiled a plaque to offically open the new Exhibition Centre Liverpool & adjoining Pullman Liverpool Hotel. It was her first visit to the waterfront after visiting back in 2008 to offically open the Arena & Convention Centre (ACC).

The Queen & the Duke heard a medley of tunes from the Pagoda Chinese Orchestra including a rendition of the national anthem. This makes me sad that I could've been in that orchestra performing for the Queen (I doubt I would've been good enough but I can dream) as when I was younger my mum did want me to learn a Chinese instrument! I'd probably cry with excitement & nerves if I was ever good enough though.

Max Steinberg, chair of the International Festival for Business showed the Queen around.

“This city, my home city of Liverpool, is in my view, perfectly placed to host such an international festival on behalf of the United Kingdom.
“It is a city that for hundreds of years has welcomed communities from across the globe and indeed is home to the oldest Chinese community established in Europe.
“It is also true to say that music is an essential part of the DNA of our city and we have exported many of our musical talents across the world.”

The Queen then had lunch at the town hall around midday which was prepared by master chef Darren Wynn where she had a main course of Mawdsley beef fillet with peppercorn & cognac sauce, served with potato dauphinois & asparagus. Dessert an apple & cinnamon tart with vanilla ice cream & creme anglais, followed by coffee & petit fours. The menu was adapted from the design used for Queen Victoria's visit to the town hall in 1886.

She came out onto the balcony around 12:30 to greet the hundreds of people who lined Castle Street. This included me & my mum!

I have never been so excited to see anyone ever.  More than any other person or celebrity just need to go to a garden party & be invited to Buckingham Palace to see her. She is real I seen her with my own eyes I was in her presence. She doesn't know I exist yet! I know people don't really understand why I love the Queen but she's a special lady & not every country in the world can say they have one, & definitely not one that has been reigning for so long! It's pretty special!

Me & my mum are in the online Liverpool Echo gallery. Didn't even realise that photographer was for the Echo thought he was just a pro photographer & never see the photos again otherwise I would've smiled for him!

Afterwards she headed off to Alder Hey where she was shown around the new hospital & met some of the staff & patients.

She looked so happy to be in Liverpool & looked like she really enjoyed her day! I'm glad I finally got to see her in my home city & can tick it off my bucket list!
