Last Canada post from the last day which also happened to be my birthday!
We went out to breakfast at this place called Cora's as I wanted waffles that was down the road from the apartment.
Chris'
Tracy got french toast and crepe
I got basically a fruit salad on top a waffle with the Canadian version of custard which was so thin basically like water.
Poor Chris said it was the worst food he's had the whole time we were in Canada but luckily it was the last breakfast. This was on Tracy and Chris for my birthday thanks again!
How I felt during and after Canada after all the food we ate!
After we went to Casa Loma which was another place on our City Pass list.
Casa Loma
The weather was awful it was peeing it down so couldn't get a nice picture of it from the outside. It wasn't that cold though as I was still wearing a playsuit but it was the coldest day while we were there. There is a running theme of it raining when we landed in Toronto for our lay over and on the day we fly home. Luckily it was the last day though and this was all inside.
Casa Loma - Spanish for Hill House is a Gothic Revival mansion that was the home to a man called Sir Henry Pellatt. He was a financier and brought hydro-electricity to Toronto. The Toronto power generation station at Niagara Falls was part of his company.
We didn't about the place we just remember seeing it when we were driving but didn't what it was or Sir Henry Pellat so it was really interesting to learn all about it. You get a a like tour thing where you press numbers what ever room you're in and it gives you information about it. There's a film you can watch that tells you all about the castle and Sir Henry.
The castle is huge so many bedrooms and floors to look around you actually get lost. It's used for a lot of filming when the museum is closed and people can hire it for weddings and events.
You can see the CN tower
The garage was down in the basement with the coolest vintage cars.
The main bedroom
There's 98 rooms! Definitely need a map to get around the house.
Unfortunately Sir Henry Pellatt wasn't able to afford to finish building the castle and manged to live there for under 10 years. He seemed to have a lived a good life while he did live there. It's sad how he had pretty much everything then got driven to near bankruptcy and had to leave the castle unfinished. It's cool now that we get to see the amazing castle and learn about him though.
After we went to a shopping centre just to kill some time and look around the shops.
We had to walk back to the apartment to pick the car up as we got a taxi to Casa Loma and back to save on parking. We walked through Nathan Phillips Square for the last time to see the Toronto Sign.
We went to a Walmart to get some bits and off to the airport. We had dinner in this Asian restaurant.
I got pad thai and asked for NO CILANTRO, CORIANDER at least 3 times but it was still in there! I should have sent it back to be honest but I just ended up picking it all out. And I had to pay extra for the chicken skewer which wasn't mentioned on the menu. No coriander ruined it so it was great should have just got char siu buns like Nanny Wing.
Crispy wantons
Char siu buns, sui mai and har gow - Should have got what Tracy and Chris did play it safe!
Chris got sick of my selfies but it was last one before home!
Food on the plane which was covered in coriander and was in the middle of the night as our flight was at 10:55pm and we landed at 10:45am UK time. I just slept pretty much the whole way through the flight as me and Nanny Wing had a row of 3 seats even though the plane was full we managed to have an empty seat so I got to lie down across two. And it was raining when we landed - I guess the weather in Toronto was just preparing us..
This is it no more Canada posts! I've been dragging it out long enough but I've finally posted them all. It was definitely one of the best holidays we've been on. We did so much and got to spend so much time with family as well. I'm ready for my next holiday now!
