12 miles

12 miles this morning! Ran with Jo and Angie - Angie did 8.7 miles with us as she didn't have to time to run the full distance so we dropped her off back at the gym and carried round in a loop to get the miles up.

Today felt so much better than last week. We did start a lot slower and we stayed with Angie. It was foggy at the start of the run so my hair was soaked but the sun came out towards the end but it made me so thirsty. I was craving an ice cream when we got back even after my frozen yoghurt fix last night at the Baltic Market. I definitely burnt that pizza and frozen yoghurt off from last night!

13 weeks till the big race which I'm still dreading but I'm just going to keep pushing and sticking to plan. I'm 3.2 miles off plan at the moment but it's a guide and I don't have to do all them miles I've set on the plan. I just want to get them long runs in to get used to running long distances!

I was really craving an ice cream and was going to Maccies after the run but we didn't end up going and we had this in the freezer! I did have some proper food though - noodles with chicken thigh meat, cabbage and an egg.

Did 4.5 miles on my own on Thursday night. 16.9 miles this week!

The plan is 13 miles next week but not sure if we're going to run that as the Sunday after is the Liverpool Half Marathon...

Catch up

Had a catch up with Sarah tonight at the Baltic Market. I've lost my gym buddy as she works at the Camp and Furnace now so works nights when I'm in the gym. We just have opposite working patterns so only seen her for a bit in the gym last night then for a bit this morning so it was nice to have a proper catch up.

We finally got to use our independent Liverpool card and got 2 cocktails for £10.

Tommy's Blackberry Margarita - Olmeca blanco, tequila, agave, blackberry puree and lime.

I didn't like it as it was super strong so lucky Sarah got to finish it off and she loves tequila! The only reason she drinks with me so that she gets all my drinks I can't drink!
We got a pizza to share from Little Furnace - ham and portobello mushroom. Bit rubbish that they don't have a big choice of pizza toppings.

Sarah got a chocolate orange frozen yoghurt with strawberries and brownies.
I got the cookie dough fries with Lotus Biscoff frozen yoghurt and white chocolate dipping sauce.

It was weird as they only have 3 flavours of frozen yoghurt - chocolate orange, Biscoff and white chocolate. I just wanted plain vanilla frozen yoghurt. Mine got pretty sickly and Sarah's was really icy. The cookie dough wasn't like dough at all it was like hardy crispy cookie when I was expecting it to be soft and chewy which was a bit disappointing.

Baltic Market was so busy with a lot of people dressed up for a proper night out. We were only going for food so weren't dressed up at all. When we left there was a queue to let people in it was that busy. This is only the second time I've been, I went with Holly back in September before seeing the Terracotta Warriors and I'm just not fussed over it and wouldn't choose to go there as the food just isn't for me. I only got pizza as there was nothing else I'd eat, most places were doing burgers which I don't like.

I'm fully carbed up for the morning's 12 mile run which I'm actually dreading. It's not going to be fun. I'm really hoping my legs are more up for it tomorrow than they were for last week's 11 mile run!

11 miles

Ran 11 miles this morning with Jo and it was hard. Legs are so achy and sore right now. I think I might have actually burnt myself out. All this running really is taking its toll on me and I'm feeling it. Training for a marathon really isn't easy at all trying to get all these miles in! It's getting harder for sure. Definitely due a sports massage soon.

Don't believe anyone who says they can just run a half marathon like that with no training - no way! Definitely not a full marathon either. Like you've got to train and build on it. Dreading having to do 12 miles next week!

Ran 3.5 miles on my own on Friday night.
17.8 miles done this week as I ran 3.3 miles on Wednesday.

Just need to keep telling myself I can do this!

10 miler

Ran 10 miles on Sunday morning. Back on track and following the plan sort of.. The past couple of weeks have been bit of a write off due to the weather. Only managed to do 5.5 miles the week it was snowy and icy.

Last week was a bit better I did 6 miles on my own but so slow - I just don't seem to push myself and plod a long when I'm on my own just to get the miles in. When I'm with other people they drag me a long and I follow or I want to be ahead of them so will go faster. At the moment I'm not running for time anyway. I'm just running to get them miles in my legs. On the day I know under race conditions I will go a lot faster - don't know how much faster but I know I'll definitely pick up the speed!

I feel like I'm really not cut out for long distance running as I'm injured again! I've got a pain running down the front of my quad. Not actually sure what muscle it is just aches and hurts. I think it may be down to running on the treadmill the other week when I couldn't run outside I was running different as I'm used to running outdoors now? Who knows but at the moment running is bearable it just aches. My legs are just aching all over right now and I'll be happy if I never have to run again!

Every post I keep saying I can't wait for this marathon to be over so I can retire from running which is true as I have no desire to run another half, full or 10 miles. Probably not more than 10k if that.

Did 5km last Wednesday night.

Fast 5km tonight!

Hopefully back on track and no more weather issues!

My phone has updated to the new Android Pie and my GPS just isn't working properly so Strava and the Nike Running + app isn't clocking my runs. Anyone else on Android having this issue as it I had no issues before the update??

Also I did end up wining that competition with the zodiacs from Chinese New Year! Me and Jo have won a banquet for 2! So worth running round town for.

Liverpool Chinese New Year Celebrations 2019

Year of the Pig

恭喜发财! 新年快乐!

Gung Hey Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!

This has come round quick I remember writing the post for last year!
Went into town with Jo after doing a 10 mile run this morning which will be a separate update post.

We went into town at 2pm - the lion and dragon dancing had already started. Most of the celebrations started at 11:30am this morning.

The weather was nice today just really cold. Some of the things got cancelled yesterday due to the gale force winds. It was still a bit windy today but nothing compared to yesterday.

Coat - H&M
Scarf - New Look
Bag - Zara
Jeans - Topshop Jamie
Trainers - Adidas NMD XR1

You can see the lion's dancing on my Instagram story here.

We deserved ice cream after a 10 mile run this morning.. They were massive!

12 artistic commissions of the Chinese Zodiacs have been dotted around the city centre and The Guide Liverpool are doing a competition for the first person to take selfies with all 12 wins a banquet for 2. So me and Jo went round looking for them all. I best have won it!!

The ice cream was defo worth it as I've done 27995 steps today that's 25.62km, burnt 2209 kcal! My legs are so tired and achy right now I think they'll be happy if I never have to run again...

Bastille - Still Avoiding Tomorrow

BASTILLE - Still Avoiding Tomorrow Tour

O2 Victoria Warehouse Manchester

Monday 4th February 2019

Went to see Bastille for the third time on Monday with Holly at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester. Got there at 5 after driving round for ages trying to find the place as for some reason my car sat nav couldn't get me there but Google maps could. It's in a really weird place right behind Old Trafford Stadium so I was stuck for finding parking but they had "event parking" across the road from the venue which was basically part of a road that was closed off because of construction work that they made into a "car park" and was charging £10! But I had to park there as I didn't know the area and we could get straight to my car after as I didn't book the day off work for the morning.

I queued on my own until Holly met me like an hour later cos she was meeting me straight from work. It was annoying they had 2 queues, O2 priority then standard queue. The priority people got let in first and there was 100s of them the queue was just never ending and I don't even think they were checking anything to see whether they had it or not. The was 8 people in front of me in the normal queue and it really pissed me off watching all them going in first. But we weren't that far back as the venue and stage was pretty big and we had time to run the toilet as well.

Moss Kena

Never heard of Moss Kena but he's a singer from London who was discovered after doing a Kendrick Lemar cover. The bass was far too loud and his mic wasn't turned up enough so we just couldn't hear him at all but we weren't a fan of him as he was loving himself way too much. I don't think he really fits as a support act for Bastille but he did join Bastille on stage later on in the night.

Lewis Capaldi

Loved Lewis Capaldi he was so good. He has such a good voice and pretty funny. This was the second night and he said he had to cut his set short the night before because he had a panic attack but reassured us it wasn't going to happen for us. He's supported some other pretty big names - Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Blossoms and Rag N Bone Man. He's been nominated for the Brit's Critic's Choice award which he deserves to win. So should definitely listen to him if you haven't already!

Moss Kena and Lewis Capaldi both stuck to the schedule. Bastille came out a bit late though.

Bastille

Dan brought Moss Kena out to help him sing the Craig David bits of I Know You

Really not a fan of this shaved head look that he did from the Quarter Past Midnight video. Please grow your hair back Dan!

A new look for Dan loving the die dye!

Performed a new song from the new album Doom Days called 4am. Not sure about it but I'm sure I'll like it when I hear it properly on the new album.

The day after was Kyle's birthday so we sang Happy Birthday to Kyle and he got a balloon!

A random lad had a Marshmello mask on and Dan spotted him so brought him up on stage. Turns out he's in a band as he liked my photo I posted on Instagram.

Finished with Flaws which is an unusual closing song. Was expecting it to be Pompeii but they didn't even end with that before the encore or open with it. He did his usual walk into the crowd but we were too central to be near him and he ended up standing up on the side bar.

I managed to get the set list from the sound desk at the end of the gig!

They were so good I loved it! The closest I've seen them as I was quite far back when I first seen them in Manchester Arena and then we were seated when we went to the ReOrchestrated tour in the Apollo Manchester. I've only ever seen them in Manchester which is really annoying. They need to come back to Liverpool so I can actually see them in my own home city! Hoping it's a date on the next tour.

I can't wait for the new album Doom Days to come out. So ready for some new songs and to see them on a new tour as they have released Other People's Heartache Pt 4 mix tape which has new songs but they've played pretty much the same songs on the past 2 tours.

Really not a fan of Dan's shaved head so hopefully he grows his quiff back. Me and Holly think Dan has lost loads of weight and looks a bit ill but not sure if it's the super shaved head? He is running the London Marathon in April so will be training for it. I feel ya pain Dan!

Until next time waiting on the next gig...
