Marathon Food

Marathon Eve

Marathon eve = carb up!

Went out for brunch with Sarah to Nowhere Woolton. Took her 2 dogs Hugo and Buddy with us as it's dog friendly.

My lunch date Hugo!

Buddy and Hugo looking so sad that there's no treats left

We both got the veggie breakfast bread, beans, tomato, asparagus, potatoes, mushrooms and poached egg

The menu was very egg filled as you can get poached, fried or omelette. I did actually want a proper carb up meal of pizza from Crust but we couldn't take the dogs. After we went for a walk in Woolton Woods with them.

Went to Nanny Wing's for dinner in the night. Had crispy duck and pancakes think I managed about 8 on my own then had a mix of different things with rice - chicken, pork, duck and fish. I couldn't actually eat as much as I was planning on and thought I would though. But I didn't want to be too full that I wouldn't be able to sleep.

Post Marathon Dinner

Post marathon we went to Amalia again as we got 2 for 1 with Meerkat Meals. We went at like 5:30pm - Me and Jo just weren't hungry. I was a bit hungry after the race but I had 2 protein bars, sweets and lucozade which might have been partly why I'd lost my appetite with all the sugar but I definitely needed it.

Calamari

Considering Jo wasn't hungry she did get a starter

Mozzarella in carrozza - Deep-fried & bread crumbed mozzarella cheese served on a bed of tomato sauce with green pesto, topped with rocket

Rich's starter

Gamberoni All' Aglio - Butterfly king prawns sauteed in garlic, chilli and white wine sauce with garlic and chilli and cherry tomato served with focaccia bread

Angie's starter

Tortellini Di Ricotta Con Pollo - Delicious tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a pink sauce with pesto and chicken

My food - I was debating getting this or the salmon penne when we went on Friday night and I was glad I got the salmon penne as this wasn't great the chicken was dry.

Penne Salmone, Crema E Pomodoro - Shredded salmon fillet mixed with smoked salmon in a creamy pink sauce with dil and spring onion

Jo liked my pasta when she tried it the other night she ended up getting it and so did Angie

Tagliatelle Bolognese with peppers, and onions

Rich got the same as he got the other night

Ham and mushroom pizza

We got a pizza to share

Tortellini Calabrese - Delicios tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach tortellini in a rich and creamy sauce with broccoli garlic, chilli flakes, mozzarella and Parmesan all beautifully baked in the oven

Jonny's main

It's been 4 days since the Marathon and I've still not recovered. I'm still hobbling around and hating stairs. I did take a hot Epsom salt bath and iced them on Tuesday and went to the gym both yesterday and today to do 30 mins really light on a spin bike. I've been stretching and walking around as much as I can. I think me doing basically nothing other than sit on my bum on Monday is why I've not full recovered really.

It's properly sank in now that I've actually ran a marathon and I'm super proud of myself that I actually did it. I am still sad that I didn't do it within 4 hours but with the circumstances there wasn't really much more I could do. One day I might get into the London Marathon and do a 4 hour marathon but right now I'm enjoying the rest!
