Thrifty Thursday #3 - Bargain Buy

Do people still do Thrifty Thursday? Anyway this is the outfit I wore on Sunday night as the Wing's went for a family meal which is really unusual as whenever we have a family gathering it's in nanny Wing's house we never go to a restaurant! It was a thanks from nanny Wing for her birthday presents which was nice.

We went to New China in town which was an unusual choice as we always go to Tai Pan which I wish we did as I got mild food poisoning the day after. I felt sick & my stomach wasn't feeling great at all. So I wouldn't recommend New China if you're looking for a Chinese restaurant in Liverpool! It was only me though but still not great. I guess I do kind of have a weak stomach as I don't eat out much. I'm fine now I drank a lot of water & think I flushed it out it wasn't a nice experience.

This outfit is probably one of the cheapest outfits I've got minus the boots. My top was a bargain buy from Claire House charity shop. It's a new Zara top which I don't think has been worn as it still had the tag on it but they took the price tag off. It was only £2.99 & in my size! I'm sure the top wouldn've been at least £30 or more in store. The trousers I've worn before which were also a bargain buy at £4 reduced from £25 from H&M. & of course my 50p New Look necklace!

Top - Zara from Claire House Charity Store £2.99
Necklace - New Look 50p
Trousers - H&M £4
CutOut Boots - Zara

The outfit minus boots cost £7.49 which is so good! Have you got an outfit which is cheaper than mine?

Golf Club

Today me & Danielle went to Woolton Golf Club as Kelly invited us to a family party they were having there as her dad is the captain. It was more of a family gathering that party.

Necklace - H&M
Top - Primark
Skirt - Zara
Cutout Boots - Zara

I say I like a lot of things but never end up buying it because it's too expensive & would rather wait for the sale & then either forget it's gone in the sale or it's sold out in my size. I fell in love with this skirt when I seen it on the mannequin in Zara in Rome but as much as I loved it couldn't pay £40 for it. It went on sale for £30 & I was like no it'll definitely go down more & I'll wait for it to go down more. I ended pay £15.99 for it but I knew it'd go down even more as there was still loads of sizes left. I ended rebuying it for £9.99 which is a bargain!  I also found out it has pockets as well which makes me love it even more but you need to unpick the seems!

Elliot is a bit of a nightmare child, he was so hyperactive & crazy. I'm not great with kids as it is then had to deal with this...

Nautical

Trousers - H&M £4 Sale
Leather Cutout Boots - Zara

Silver Spike Layered Bib Necklace New Look - £9.99 but got it for 50p!

I was looking nautical today with my striped top & navy blue trousers. I do like navy a lot coming to think about it & the sailor theme, love a striped top in any colour not just navy or black strips! Nautical is definitely in this season every shop seems to be selling stripes! But then again when isn't it in, you can never go wrong with a striped shirt!

I finally got myself a choker necklace as well as I've been wanting one for a while. I did have a black one from when I was in like primary school when it was in back them but I can't seem to find it. I got this one from New Look for only 50p! It just didn't have the packaging for it. I also got this chain necklace which I'm in love with for only 50p too! There's a chain missing on it but it's still in perfect condition & looks great. You're going to be seeing this a lot so watch as it's going to be my new obsession to wear with everything!

Trying to look smart

Biker Coat - H&M
Bag - Zara
Tartan Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Necklace - H&M Kids
Cutout Boots - Zara

I had my induction today for my new job & got this dress from New Look thinking it's smart & business like so I should be ok to wear it. It has capped sleeves, the right length. Turns out nope we're not allowed to wear patterned things which I think it's really stupid considering they're not providing us with uniforms. The dress code is really strict which I don't think it should be since they're not providing it. I don't see what is wrong with this dress as if I worked in an office or business I would be fine to wear it & it's in the smart work wear section of the store. I know my boots maybe aren't the most professional looking with the cutout detailing & the buckles but really I don't understand why I can't get away with this outfit!

I've only worn this dress today but there's a rip at the bottom the seam has made a slit so I'm going to have to take it back. Not sure whether I want to exchange it as it's one of them annoying dresses that doesn't have elastic, a zip, or any form of opening making it really hard to get in & out of! The head isn't even that big either & that's the only way into it. Before you think the dress is too small for me which is why it's ripped it's not as the rip is at the bottom of the dress which has nothing to do with getting it on or off just bad stitching!

Afternoon tea for three

This always happens I have no social life then everyone decides to go out.. I was out for lunch on Friday with Kelly, Danielle & Hannah then today I went for afternoon tea with Holly & Gabby. Gabby was home for the weekend & it's my last free weekend before I start working weekends & not being able to go to the gym which is killing me knowing I can't go to boot camp on Saturday mornings (my favourite & best class I go to) or circuits on Sunday mornings! :(

I'm going to have hardly any time for the gym now that I have 2 jobs which makes me sad as I love going to the gym it's my second home I spend so much time there! I've said this before but the gym is the best investment I've ever made. It's been a year since I've joined & I don't regret it at all. Even though I've made more progress & seen change more the past couple of months then have the whole year... But at least there is progress eventually.. The endorphins you get from the gym is so real it makes you feel a million times better after it, relieves stress, gets you fit, gets you stronger, makes you happy the list of benefits is endless!

Going for afternoon tea kind of just ruins the whole point in going to the gym though... I've been wanting to try it for ages. We went to Cuthbert's on Mount Pleasant which is a cute little bake house that does tea & cake.

Mine & Holly's

Scone, chocolate cake, almond cake with creme patissiere, pistachio macaron, choclate macaron, raspberry tart with creme patissiere, smoked salmon & cucumber on crispy bread, coronation chicken sandwich, beef with rocket & tomato on crispy bread & we think it was goats cheese with cranberry sandwich.

Gabby's veggie

Same cakes but she had roasted mushroom & peppers on crispy bread, think goats cheese with cranberry & salad sandwich, the other two had cheese on it too.

I ate everything apart from the chocolate cake as I'm not a fan of chocolate especially not as a cake so I ended up swapping with Gabby for her almond cake to take home. I ended up having her roasted mushroom & pepper crispy bread & her lemon macaron whilst also having Holly's smoked salmon crispy bread. I was so full & felt a bit sick. Definitely regret eating all that as I didn't have dinner when I came home. We did go quite late at 3 as me & Holly went to the gym in the morning.

I thought it was nice but I'm not sure whether I would do it again, definitely not any time soon but I have learnt for next time not to eat everything & to take things home with me! It's something you should try if you've never been before, especially if you do like cake as a treat as it's not cheap either. It cost us £15 each. It was nice catching up even though I see Holly most days at the gym but it's not quite the same sitting down & having a chat over tea & cake!

Plain White

Oversized White Shirt - Matalan
Necklace - Mango via Asos
Leather look leggins - H&M
Cutout Boots -Zara

Yesterday's outfit I wore to work just a casual oversized shirt with leather look leggins as it was pretty cold & raining. I struggle a bit with the oversized shirt look even though it should be easy as it's a just a thrown it on kind of outfit. But I think if you are skinny like me it can sometimes swamp you & make you look bigger than you are. Depending on your bottoms it can make a difference. These leggins are high waisted which I think is probably the best kind of pants to wear with an oversized shirt as it helps to synch in your waist to give your body a bit of shape which you're not getting from the shirt.

I've decided I'm going to take a photo of Frodo everyday from now on. I started doing this last Friday (Halloween) as I'd seen different things online of people taking a selfie everyday for a year or taking a photo of their pet everyday for year or until they died. It think it's good to see ageing & change over time especially daily. We've had Frodo now for nearly 8 years (March next year) which I can't believe it's been that long! I can't imagine my life without him now. If you didn't' already know we adopted Frodo from the RSPCA as he'd been founded abandoned out on the road & was taken in. When we got him we think he was around 4/5 years old which makes him 12/13years old which is really old for a dog as it's 84/91 human years!! But yet he still acts like he's young but other times he does show his age but 80% he doesn't. I do wish we got to see how he was like as a puppy & go to train him properly!

He has changed, you can tell he is older as he's sleeping a lot more, getting a lot more tired after walks, needing to go the toilet more, even weeing in the house without realising! His hair has changed colour as well he's a lot more grey than he used to be! So this daily photo update is good to see the change daily even though I do take a lot of photos of him so I can see the change but this will be more a gradual change. So look out for photos of Frodo as well as photos of me on the blog!

Auction

I went to Manchester today with my mum & dad to go to a house auction which was being held at Manchester City's football stadium the Etihad. We got there for half 10 but it didn't start till 12 so we were just sitting around really, looking at the catalogue of houses that were up for auction. We were looking at one house but ended up leaving at half 1!

It was interesting just how you see it on tv, people there bidding themselves, people bidding on the phone. But there wasn't actually that much fighting going on, loads of lots didn't sell as they didn't reach the guide price.

It was pretty warm today, highs of 15 which makes a change from the horrible hurricane we had on Tuesday which I got caught in walking to the gym. If that's not dedication I don't know what is! It doesn't feel like it's Autumn at all crazy weather!

I've actually had the chance to sit on one of these seats to watch England ladies a couple of years ago when I played for a girls football team. (I was like 13/14 I think? I wasn't very good so stopped but then also the team I played for fell apart). I also got to play at Manchester Regional Arena just next to it before we watched the match.

After we went to the Glamorous Chinese restaurant to have dim sum.

It's been a while since we've had dim sum & after eating it I felt quite sickly at how greasy it is with the sauce. Especially the ho fun which I didn't mange to get a photo of it as I was in the toilet when it came out, my mum & dad had already started eating it! But as you can see from the plate it was really greasy & I hate greasy fried food! Chinese food is healthy if you don't opt for the fried food. Also the restaurant only had a 3/5 star hygiene rating so I didn't want to go as anything less than a 4 really isn't good enough but my dad wanted to go so we did.

After working in a few restaurants even if they are given a 5 star it really doesn't mean they're the cleanest place ever because they could have just got lucky on the day they came to inspect or they knew they were coming. Whilst it can also go downhill but realistically they're not that bothered about hygiene & eating out really isn't all that you're definitely better off cooking the food at home yourself. You know exactly what's in it, make it to your own taste & know how clean it is! Until you work there yourself or see you don't realise but take it from me I know what I'm talking about but obviously it is nice to go out & eat to meet up with people from time to time, so I'm not saying never eat out!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I have sadly finally joined the 21 club the last out of all my friends. I'm glad I'm the last birthday as I seriously don't want to grow up! Being old is no fun I wish I was a kid forever! I'm the most immature & definitely don't look 21 at all & can probably still pass for 16. I don't feel older but the fact I am older & I know I am it makes me feel old if that makes sense?

Gabby got my a cactus!

She also got me a yankee candle,  I can't smell pineapple though

Macarons from Patisserie Valerie

Leather Jacket - Matalan
Bag - Topshop
Top - From Danielle - New Look
Necklace - Mango via Asos
Jeans - Hollister
Cutout Boots - Zara

These are the worst jeans ever I don't understand them like they are massive around my hips. I know they're super low & I got them when I was like 16 & a lot skinner but even now they still don't fit!

I went to the gym in the morning so nothing special or different. I think I fell asleep during the end of yoga when we do our relaxation... As I missed a step out! It's not the first time I fell asleep when I was jet legged from Florida. Didn't do anything all day then went to the pub with Gabby, Kelly & Danielle. These are only photos with me & Kelly as we were sitting next to each other.

These are gifts I got off my Auntie & Uncle & Gabby. Hannah has my presents off Kelly & Danielle but she couldn't go last night but they've got a surprise for me tomorrow so it'll be my birthday round 2. Holly couldn't make it to the pub as my mum was being a pain & in the afternoon I'd rearrange the pub from yesterday night to tonight but then as my mum wasn't doing anything last night I didn't want to stay at home I changed it back when she changed her plans. But I'm hoping to go go-karting in a couple of weeks which will be my birthday round 3.

I went to Rome with my mum & dad last week which is meant to be my birthday/graduation present. I've been meaning to do a post of Rome but I took a lot of photos which I need to go through so hopefully I'll get that up before the end of the week!

What a coincidence this is post 127, my birthday is on the 27th & 27 is my "lucky"/favourite number.

Also we went to my nan's for dinner on Sunday. The first image shows the table all laid ready to eat! There are quite a few dishes but they're actually the same things each end of the table so everyone can reach. We had crispy duck & pancake as well as the usual rice & different dishes of food.

How pretty do these cakes look?! My auntie made them. They're pastry & inside is custard & coconut. The white are plain, the green are green tea flavoured & red are beetroot. But you can't taste the beetroot. I love the filling the pastry not too keen as it was quite dry which not much flavour but they look too good to eat! She definitely needs to go on the bake off!
